He just assumed that Ren was part of the music industry machine like him and did not give him and his friends the acknowledgement they rightly deserve for reaching number 1 with no real backing, it is historical and it shows how much he looked into his 'competitor' and how outdated his ideas are. Rick Astley is a product where as Ren is an actual creative musician and the differences are easy to see.

He reiterated that there's no bad blood between him an Sony because of that. The reason is the same though (his disease), but it's a bit different in context.

I disagree I have watched Tom's fans help Tom beat number one over Eminem in rap songs when Eminem had just released his album and the song that Tom released was best rapper ever I think because I know because a lot of Tom's fans are ren's fans also that even if it was someone like Ed Sheeran we would have helped him beat out and we aren't a campaign we don't have bazilians of dollars to put on TV or radio and before his snub I'm sure like me many of us were fans of Rick Astley my immediate thought when I heard this interview was what a narcissistic dick.
