Coaching matters...... I wish we knew what it would take to get a Stanley cup in Winnipeg. Great interview.

Overall bones was a great coach, and did what needed to be done to change the culture in Winnipeg. However, Bones did make a couple of bad decisions during the year, and definitely made some bad decisions at the end when things were not working against Colorado. In one interview he said that he would rather lose his way than win another way. So there is that. That being said, what is really stopping the Jets from succeeding is the lack of really really high end talent. Most of the teams that do well in this playoffs and eventually win a cup, really suck a bit for a few years and get some good draft picks, and get some really elite players. The Jets greedy ownership refuses to let the jets tank, because they know if the jets go on a losing streak, the arena won't be as full. To the Jets owners, doing what it takes to win the cup is not the priority. If they win the cup, sure they won't complain, but it's not the priority. What is their priority is keeping a mediocre team that squeaks into the playoffs, and keeps the arena relatively full. Problem with that is, when it comes time to draft, the Jets are usually drafting 18th or something. You are not going to get the players you need to win a cup if you are consistently drafting outside the top 10 maybe even top 5. To really compete for the cup the jets have to go on a losing streak and draft some top top players. Period.

Man, we were lucky to have Bones. Our D transformed. Morrissey finally leaned into his offensive capability. We got better and better at limiting chances, both by number and difficulty. So many things improved. The offense that came off that D proved everyone wrong, especially the naysayers from Dallas, when our offensive skills came to bear and we did as well in scoring goals as preventing them. I was one of those fans who appreciated the sentiment of "no pushback", but I'm really trying not to focus on the negative and I don't dwell on the END of the playoffs. I'm trying to celebrate the amazing hockey I get to watch every time the Jets take the ice. A lot of the success of what we're seeing in the 24-25 season sprang off the new foundation Bones built. I think he helped to mature this organization tremendously, by bringing in modern mental health thinking (maybe). He's always talking about communicating with his players. Well, we know now that healthy communication is the only viable way to develop a healthy relationship, and not just in your personal relationships. I hear them talk about, We're more than the sum of our parts, lately. I don't know. That calm, confident energy that radiates from the room. It sings of modern mental health stability. I think they do that with how they talk to one another.
