I danced my ass off at the age of 6 when I first heard this tune over the radio, much to my parents dismay, and here I am at 62 years of age still dancing my ass off to this classic song!

Yes the video of 1975 with the dancing girl, is actually a video filmed to the original version of the 1960's hit. Still a good video.👍

I First Seen Rick DERRINGER play with the Mcoys in OMAHA NEBRASKA at the Battle of the Band's at the Civic Auditorium. When I first started playing Hang on Sloopy was a MUST.. I TRULY Appreciate his music and how much his influence has enabled so many young players over the years. I've must have played this song 10000 times maybe more. Hang On Sloopy was one of the 20 songs my very first band knew in 7th Grade. There's so MANY Nice Things I could say about Rick DERRINGER but I'm sure he knows WE ALL LOVE HIM

Greatest rock and roll interview of all time. (70s? Early 80s?) . NPR was talking with a businessman who was trying to start one of those new football leagues that would compete against the NFL. He said, "I know this is going to work because there are only five ways to lose all of your money and I've done all five of them and this has all the ingredients to succeed and...." The interview interrupted him and asked, "Excuse me... didn't you write Hang on Sloopy?" He stopped and said, "Yes, I did. I was very young at the time and never really made any money off of it..."

Rick was always troubled with Dyan. She almost married my ex-husband when we lived in California near SF. Too much drugs. But Rick got Religion now and at least grounded finally. He's in Florida and still joins bands for gigs yet he's a Real Estate agent too these days. Dyan was having health problems last time we spoke about 4 years ago. But Rick always got lead around like a puppy by his women. Not much balls yet talented as a guitarist..

Rick Derringer looks so healthy since he divorced Dyan and remarried Jenda. Rick got religion and went conservative. LOVE hearing his song 'HANG ON SLOOPY." Sadly, I doubt that he recalls most of those time after so much of his drug & drinking. Dyan did NOT help either. They met in a strip bar! Go figure! Yet he finally grew up around the age 50. He's 70 now and still is HOT on his guitars.

I couldn't help but notice that his guitar is tuned half a step down, he appears to be playing in G but it's actually F#.
@MrAMYJACK5 жыл бұрын
Ah and that means ?
@solocam19625 жыл бұрын
Means nothing ... except that he wants to sing in a lower register because G is too high for him to sing in... yet he can still play in key of G (easier). This guy must have been trying to play along side of this with his guitar tuned standard to figure it out.
@bonkeydollocks18794 жыл бұрын
Suits his voice better, vocal range changes over the years so this probably suits him now
