Prince wasn't let go from the Stones American Tour 1981 because they didn't want him. It was the audience who didn't accept him. The Stones admired Prince. Otherwise, he would never have been asked to open some shows for them.

I didn't know some of this stuff, till I watched this episode. My first Prince concert was in either 81 or early 82, as The Time had just came out, and opened for Prince. Absolutely incredible show, as The Time performed their entire album! Which was only six songs. This was at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston.

Probably no one could keep up with Prince.Talent and energy personified.

rick could have kept up, but there was a lot of bias. mtv changed everything in the music industry as far as exposure, and they wouldn't play rick. besides being outrageous, he didn't have white ppl appeal. there was no bet back then, so it was like blacklisting him. it definitely affected his career and self esteem

1:10 Ahhhhh Prince! Greatest and funniest walkout entrance in cartoon animation ever, to me. I still have my ticket stub from the Purple Rain Tour in Detroit in 1984. I swear he was talking & pointing at ME the whole time...he was! LOL💞💞💞💞

I still have my ticket stub from the Purple Rain tour in Memphis in Feb, 1985. It was dark and only purple lights were on in our arena. I sat in the upper bowl so i know Prince didnt see me.

I remember that at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago Prince opened for Rick James and that was it. He out performed Rick James and that was it. Rick came out with a sorry ass performance that couldn’t top Prince. The battle was real.
