I've had the pleasure to meet Rick years ago when he came to my store to shop with C.B. He was a class act then and always was. Congrats!

How is this guy not in the HOF? It's an abomination. One of the best 1:1 players ever, all around player, passer, scorer, and flatly scored some of the most gorgeous goals in hockey history. It's absolutely ridiculous.
@bobabooey4537 Жыл бұрын
Close but not quite. He played just over 1000 games but not part of the 500 goals or 1000 pt club. No cup.
@afmartin27342 ай бұрын
@@bobabooey4537 There are other players with that resume in the HOF. Try again. The "no Cup" argument is kinda dumb, too.

Rick was such a talented player. So fun to watch. So many great Bruins teams when he played. Just a shame the B's ran into a Montreal dynasty, then it was the Islanders dynasty, & at the tail end of the 80's, it was the Oilers dynasty.

At 15:25 Rick shook the hands of the next two Bruins to get their numbers retired.

In 1981, I attended the Canada Cup in Montreal, and ( I still can't believe this die hard B's fan did this ) cheered "Guy, Guy" as Lafleur created magic on a line with Gretzky and Perrault. Another fun part of the 2 Canadian games I saw was Hab fans cheering Nifty's terrific two way play.

I saw Rick play junior in Oshawa and I knew then he was going to be a great NHL player. He should be in the HOF.

Middleton was a true Bruins legend, but I'll always associate the #16 with Derek Sanderson. Don't get me wrong, Middleton is the far superior player and an amazing talent...but I'll never forget "Sanderson to Orr"!!!

Whose number, if any, should be retired next? I was thinking Gerry Cheevers who brought Boston to 4 cup appearances in 9 years but he did skip off to The WHA after the 72 season and Eddie Johnson, and later, Gillies Gilbert also played a big role....what you think?
@MrJohnnyDistortion5 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing Cheevers play in the WHA in the old Boston Gardens with the Ckeveland Crusaders I think. People in the upper balcony were talking shit to him and Cheevers would look up and raise his stick hand and shake it at them warning them of a beating. LOL

MrJohnnyDistortion In 1979 the bruins were 2 minutes from going to the Stanley cup finals but the bruins get called for too many men giving Montréal a power play. The habs scored and then they scored in overtime to eliminate the bruins

josericotaconachoquesadillamondillajones -How excited we’re we all when Nifty came around the back of Montreal’s net and sneak it past Dryden on the wrap-around with only a little over 4 minutes left on the clock. And that damb Lemaire passing to the damb Lefluer ect ect....

@@stonedstakegaming5458 Oh that's right. 1979? I remember now. The puck was nowhere near the players as they were changing up as the play continued if I recall correctly?

Congrats to Rick! One omission on Nifty's highlight reel (B's really should ask fans for OUR memories of player's careers!): The night Middleton flew across center ice and crossed the blue line facing a one-on-one vs Montreal's great Hall of Fame defenseman Larry Robinson - and...with the slipperiest of indescribable moves...turned Big Larry inside-out like a pretzel, zoomed in and decked the goalie and roofed the puck! One of the most spectacular...and prettiest...goals I have ever seen. (I didn't see all of Robinson's games, but for him I"ll bet that was as rare an occurrence as getting hit by lightning - which he was by Nifty!)
