Generally, yes. Different promotions had different limits for their divisions.

@@mouseboxersclassickickboxing I think it's shocking how nearly every person doesn't know that Rick Roufus was 163 lbs against Changpuek who was 162 lbs but also that Changpuek in that same year fought against a Thai named Payap Premchai and both were at 150 lbs meaning that it that fight against Payap he was 13 lbs smaller than Rick Roufus was against him so basically 3 weightclass smaller than Rick Roufus.

Gibson had too much admiration and respect for Roufus to actually give him his best fight and hardest effort. I’ve seen Gibson fight much harder, faster, smarter, and determined in a great many of his other fights. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Very likely so, but it didn't help that full contact karate was the style Gibson was least proficient in, and Roufus was already one of the best full contact fighters of all time. He knew how to put Manson on the defensive, was at least as fast as him, and he was great at fighting on the inside - something Gibson was never really comfortable with.

I don't think so. Roufus is just under six feet tall, and you could definitely lay at least two of him from one ring post to another.
