Living through my body was a bar... As a creative when you're just stuck in your room focusing on creating you neglect your body/health. When I started exercising and getting some sun. That improved my confidence in myself a lot. Didn't realize how the lack of vitamin D (sun) and exercise really makes me feel down which effects how fast I get music done.

I’ve found that gym and journaling daily has helped me explore my limitations in art. Once I started going to the gym daily, and I wouldn’t listen to music instead I’d be present and conscious of my breath I reconnected with my creativity, and the beliefs I’d attached to it. That had stopped me from pursuing a career- it made me realise being an artist is a lifestyle. And typically that lifestyle goes against what society wants, it requires a good amount of discipline and control but it’s fundamental to give yourself space where there is no control, no expectations, no limits and you are fully accepting of your creative spirit. As someone whose always sought control this is difficult for me, but I use journalling, meditation and introspection to be in tune with myself. Recently I’ve been exploring the belief that my art has to fit into an aesthetic and not limiting the tools I use which is in contrast to what Rick says- but I need it because being an art student was all about rules. And I realise rules made up by the art teacher, I need to find my own rules so I don’t continuously abandon my art because the rules stop me from creating what I truly want.

My experience tells me that: The greter the potential behind what we're trying to express, the greter the fear of achieving or even simply starting it. The greter the fear, the greter the potential for growth. The greater the potential for growth, the harder it gets as you're enclosing on the aim. It's like a root vegetable youre pulling out the ground, but you don't know how big it is, which in turn makes it even harder for you to pull out the ground, especially as we all start - through a small hole. Might be even a string of root vegetables, just like potatoes do grow. Might have to invite all your friends and family to pull together with you, the gretaer the reap is - the more mental, physical, emotional and SOCIAL support we need. Hope this helps friend 🙏 thank you for staying in tune with yourself and your authenticity

Cultivating and keeping a perspective of curiosity with my art when it comes to conflicts or feeling stuck is everything. If I'm struggling to let the art flow, I can get with myself and whatever associated feelings that are coming up and ask without judgment "what do you need?" "what's going on?", then whatever comes up I can allow into my present experience (I'm no longer fighting myself), and accept that I believe this or feel this way. Then I can change it up and get back to play. Stay curious.

Halfway through, I had to comment. This is 100% accurate. And meditation isn't just about what's been said. Its also who we are energetically, and that does radiate out and connect to the universe. That's no woo woo. It's science. I have spent two years applying myself to connecting to, and transforming myself through a meditative practice which is about connecting to the part of the brain called superconscious which rearranges life experiences in the brain so that we no longer feel the pain of difficult experiences. And with it practicing raising my vibration daily through conscious choice and meditation, focusing on what I want, and alligned action, However, these practices aren't about fixing. It's about creating. Be it art or life, we are creative beings who can create the life we love. Rick Ruben is so inspiring. He gets it. I think he is a true "magician". Love your attitude of engagement and the rest of thr video. It's spot on. " Awareness". It's 100% true.

At university i did costume design and making, the often easiest way to come with a design was to give ourselves enough limiting factors for the design (had to be red, had to be baggy, had to be historically accurate etc) so we had to really get the blood out of the stone when it came to creativity, if i asked you to design me something, anything, where would you even begin?? If i told you i wanted a blue chair that could recline and looked modern and was comfy, you'd already be crunching the design much faster. When it comes to the creative process give your self targets/limiters you have to hit and youll actually get a purer concentrate of creative juice out your brain

As an artist, this was truly inspiring! I especially loved that the "objective is not to learn to mimic greatness...[but to] ultimately leading to our own great work". We don't want to be a copy of an original, that's not the objective, but to find ourselves by the influence of other artists or other things we are "triggered" to make more art.

And thank you for this video and your channel. It just arrived on my feed, and it's great timing. I enjoyed watching Rick Rubin's interviews with Pharell and othe artist in the past because how we create is the key to becoming a great and successful artist. And I feel from my experience one of the most potent and possibly the most important one is to be able to take the responsibility, and activate the courage to find a way of observing / becoming aware of, and releasing the negative beliefs stored in our subconscious minds that allows us to be free creators

If the idea of doing something scares you, that is the idea you pursue. Everytime you become aware of something that makes you uncomfortable because it is unfamiliar, you are standing on the edge of the cliff. You can jump into the unknown not knowing where it will lead or turn back to safety where you know what to expect and feel safe. Your mind takes notes everytime you turn away from something new. The more you embrace the unknown and explore new realms your mind expands. It starts to become comfortable with doing what is uncomfortable. Be bold and be brave. Your life is as interesting as the choices you make

In 2022 I produced over 150 songs and everybody told me that I will duplicate my own work. But effects were totally different. My songs started to be original, because every time I have intention to make something different, better.

I think what has help me become aware of my art is understanding my tendency to try to be different or to be a perfectionist. I study and research too much and it causes me to crash. So, to help with that I read novels and comics. Reading different non-fictions books I use more of my imagination to create an image out of words. So, when I create my art I use an image or a sound to create an expression. Sometimes I just need a break and catch some sun so when I come back it's like a fresh start.

What's helped me stay aware when creating art? slowing down. breathing. not trying to multi-task or rush around, even if it is for the art i'm creating. being as present as i can be in every moment if the only way i can access the creative spark in me and so sometimes... i'll sit on a bench and people watch or journal, do a short meditation (headspace has a great series on creativity), do yoga to connect with my body (without following a video), etc...
