I am reading this book now. I to knew there was a Rick Rubin, but I didn't really know what he did. Then I saw a podcast with Lex Fridman where he talked to Rick and I thought, "Wow! So this is Rick Rubin!" I am late to the game but I am here. Thank you for your content! You are MORE than a "nobody" from Germany.

I'm a musician from Argentina. I found out about this book today and felt very intrigued about it. I searched youtube and your video is the first one that popped up, or at least the one that caught my attention. Thank you for encouraging me to read it. Wow, isn't the internet a curious place? Big hug and keep up the good work!

It's a brilliant book... I found out about it about a month ago, I'm 3/4 of the way thru it, and it's already become, basically, my bible for life.

Rick Rubin has been a name and the force behind so many acts I've been taken by that I've been aware of since I was 14 years old. This work for me feels like being let in to the truth I've been certain existed for all that time. Like self-help, but a confirmation as opposed to an affirmation.

And that's why I think this "book" - or should I say "work" is really helpful and meaningful to me.

Absolutely! I started loving his work even earlier - around 7 or 8. The book is a godsend!

Really good review. I've been reading, re-reading and listening to The Creative Act for a few months, it feels like a book that can only be properly reaped of it's contents through m a n y rereads, in different times and places. Hope the channel succeeds for you, this is good quality content.

That’s was awesome Benjamin, Thanks a million for your thoughts on the book 📖 I’ll tell Rick you say hi 😊 keep going on your channel you got what it takes. It can be slow at the start but just watch every interview that Mrbeast has done if you want to mater the art of KZbin. Or just understand that attention is the key 🔑 if your videos can get 60%+ retention the algo will push you. Ok. Cheers mate

Good book in many ways, but at the end of the day as a failed artist, and failed musician... Despite achieving goals in the past. Currently I have to decide if I'm prepared to spend lots of hours writing, recording a song, doing a video, only for nobody to download it even if it's free. It's a book written from Rubin's viewpoint of being around successful artists to give them spiritual and motivational guide, if you're in a position where no one gives a toss, then this book is a pointless read. It's for people who are already getting stuff out there, and who may have doubts, it's about creating as a form of philosophy.
@BenjaminJaksch Жыл бұрын
Very good point. What helps you in your position then? Any good sources?

@@BenjaminJaksch Nothing works for me anymore.... I had to give up a large part of my creative life... I don't try to get heard of seen any more, the outlets dried up.... So you find other stuff that is fun to do. Rubin saying as a highly successful person that success is overrated, really grated and was the final straw for me with this book. Try having no success and see what that does to creativity...😮
