Be careful we don’t fall into the same category. Even people who have good intentions, commenting on someone leaving a bad comment tend to leave bad comments themselves a simple explanation that Rick deleted the apps from his phone could be sufficient enough. One of the reasons I hate text commentsis there is no inflection no humanity and no care. It’s cold and lifeless.😊

Rick, I’m with you on this. Social media, on a whole, has become a cesspool full of negativity and trolls. I tip my hat to you, Peter Finch, Matt Fryer, James Robinson and a few others for putting yourselves out there to present informative, interesting and entertaining videos. I get to see some beautiful course, I otherwise would never see, let alone play. Keep on keeping on.

Since COVID and coming across a video of yours I've gained the golf bug. Since 2020 I've bought a cheap set of golf clubs and was playing at Trafford golf. I then went to a course. I then invested in a decent set of second hand golf clubs and became a member at my local course aswel as having lessons at Trafford. I wouldn't have done this without watching that video of rick playing and then binge watching him, Matt, Pete and carter videos. My swing and grip was built of the videos from rick and Matt and tweaked by my coach and here I am 4 years later. I guess what I'm trying to say is nice one for costing me a fortune and still delivering quality content 😂 😉

Are you the greatest golfer….no…..are you are good golfer….yes….but who really cares. Everyone is a badass behind the keyboard these days and most of them have never done a thing in their lives. I personally am an ok golfer and watching your videos 3.5 yrs ago when I started playing is what got me from terrible to okay. My son has been playing for a bit over a year now and everything he learned when he first started playing was from your channel. He’s now a 6-7 handicap shooting in the 70’s. I don’t know what I would do with myself on an evening with out all the Golf content creators. I have tried to make videos ( Bignosegolf) and it’s so hard. People don’t understand how much work goes into making videos. I for one am really greatful to them all for keeping me entertained. Yes, viewers can give positive and negative comments for valid points. But the really haters should just unsubscribe…. But they don’t they just keep watching and secretly enjoying parts of the video.

Social media (for the most part) shows life in a perfect (yet edited) perspective. Fans are watching you play golf for a living, with famous professionals, at famous courses. Some viewers are going to be jealous because their life is not great and by posting negative comments makes them happier. Ignore them, enjoy the life and family you have .... let them wallow in their own life.

Getting rid of Social media had a huge benefit to my head space on KZbin, alongside a lot of other creators I know. Most of whom, when they do consider 'Quitting' Is because of the feedback they receive. You'll never please everyone, so just focus on your own happiness. I remember being told that successful people don't leave negative comments, but if they do it's Positive negativity, such as 'Falling forwards'. Positive negativity is great, restrictive negativity is destructive which KZbin has a lot of (And social media as a whole). I also can't read comments on fun posts anymore either (I only allow myself to read my YT comments for up to 24 hours then not anymore), It's just people trying to pull others down. There's a lot of media saturation for people that they're almost unpleasable nowadays. Shoot a 49, you'll still find a negative comment. Just keep being you Rick, you're helping out so many people, we just don't tell you enough, but the silent majority are here for good reasons.

Most of it is spam farms pumping out ai comments and being paid to do so. Have you seen the images and videos of these spam farms. Crazy… like 10k phones connected to computers. KZbin is struggling to handle it all as well.

I believe the people who continually post negative comments do so to elicit as many responses as possible. Call them stirrers, losers, trolls or whatever but they thrive on making disrespectful and sometimes truly personal hurtful comments. I think people who engage in this behaviour must be lacking in other areas of their life in particular intelligence.

During my year of recovery from my broken leg in 2022 I watched everything you and Guy put out on the internet and it gave me that drive to never give up! Rick i think because you get more positive coments than negative ones you just take them for granted…..and you don‘t capture them as good in youre mind as negative ones, thats something people have to learn….same like me beeing pissed of on the golfcourse, but why?? Look arround, your on a golfcourse, you play golf, probably you play on a beautiful golfcourse and you just don‘t see how beautiful it is cause youre busy beeing pissed of cause of youre shots or you play with really nice people….and in the end you go „huh, actually i didn‘t really have a talk with them“ and why? Cause you where pussed of cause a stupid gokf shot, it‘s just golf, enjoy the weather, the people and always think of YOU PLAY GOLF…..not many people are able to play golf 😉 Love youre content thx 😊

Either that, or from people who are desperate for some attention, and by you allowing it to get to you, they've got what they wanted Ignore them and enjoy the real comments from people who appreciate what you all do. I’ve been saying the same thing. Just like the DOD King shows up to the trash talker’s home courses and spanks them on camera. People can talk a big game, but when there’s a camera on you, it’s a totally different situation. And these trolls need to realize that Rick plays some of the hardest courses in the world. He’s not playing some local public rinky-dink course.

I think if you're going to ask people to subscribe to a channel, you have to then be open to feedback from those subscribers. That said, I think that feedback should necessarily be limited to constructive/helpful comments designed to encourage more/continued viewership instead of tearing a person down or commenting on other inappropriate things or areas. Those lines are much clearer when interacting in-person, yet they should be maintained online in similar fashion, without question.

Its good Rick is hearing the negative people, he's been "gassed" with too much positivity for way too long and should humble himself, success on KZbin and success playing golf are two different things. I hope he focuses on his game while doing his job and he will play better. Slowly he will realise that successful golf will just improve golf and not the other way round.

I play off 8 (play once a week) and I know 100% I could beat Rick Shiels in stroke play 7 out of 10 times.....worst swing on youtube. He's all arms and very little core rotation so eventually he will throw in bad shots under pressure when his timing is off.

It matters not that you can beat him. Could you film, edit and upload interesting and fun content. Plus you also need a nice personality, which Rick does have. He also suffers massively from nerves. I get your point of view and that's why he's not a huge hitter, but as a content creator he's up there.

It really depends on the course rating and slope rating. If it's like a 74-78 an the slope rating is 140-150+ and tournament conditions? it would be miracle to break 90.

Yea, I play in Taiwan and Rick would be a bogey golfer here. He never loses a ball on KZbin. He would lose 3-5 a round on the courses I play
