When you hear people say they miss the 80's, this is one of the things they're talking about. Yes, we can still enjoy musical talent like this, BUT it's just not the same knowing that the era during which this talent existed has long since passed.
@clairemendoza8082Ай бұрын
@DustinZilbauer absolutely. I love this song. The message and everything! IOC’s the end when Rick embraces the girl whoever she is. Very lovely too. Both of them. Love his hair and his look. Tall dark and handsome! lol 😂 I’m 27 and love music from the 80s. Nowadays the music just isn’t the same. Maybe a few bands/artists make good music and sound good vocally but not many. Rick was such a cutie 🥰 back then!! Wow his eyes with that black hair just chefs kiss. Ding dong lol 😂

Yeah it’s a funny thing …he had a lot of big hits between 80 and 85….many were big at the time like love is alright tonight, two souls, state of the heart, affair of the heart, don’t talk to strangers….but that monster hit Jesse’s Girl just took on a life of its own….

This is so sad … it just because the subject matter and arrangement but the fact that it’s a mid sized hit that just puts me right back to being a fourth grader when it was a hit….its a frozen slice of 1981….pre “eighties” as we think of them, ie mid and late 80s, early Reagan, still Cold War America…it’s a literal time capsule ….

What kind of fool was released in 1982 and hit number two on the hot 100 in America. He hit number one with Jessie's Girl in 1980, staying at number one four consecutive weeks. That's why you can't talk about the 80s without considering this Artist. Now, 40 years later...we still play his songs.
@gregwilliams65922 ай бұрын
You must be thinking of Rick's first Hot 100 hit in 1982, "Don't Talk to Strangers," which did peak at number 2. This song was Its follow-up and spent 9 weeks in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 between June and August of '82, with 6 of those weeks spent at its peak position, #21. I bet it's safe to say no other song has spent as many weeks on the Hot 100 and stayed at its peak for a greater percentage of its chart run than "What Kind of Fool Am I."

I’ve only seen Rick in concert once though, several years ago. As he was jumping across chairs, he almost fell. I helped him and he grabbed my arm, then proceeded to step on my friend’s foot. She was telling everybody all that week that Rick Springfield stepped on her foot! 😂 I don’t even know how old he is now, but he always seems young at heart!
