I truly believe in this ministry. I went through the program in Bartlesville Oklahoma in a church called humble road. God has forever changed my life through this program. It helped me deal with the guilt and shame cause by my addiction to methamphetamine and other things. But most importantly help me build a relationship with Jesus Christ. I will forever be grateful for Celebrate Recovery.

I Believe in Celebrate Recovery not because of John or Cheryl Baker or because of what I believe is the best pastor in the World Rick Warren, but because it took a sinful addict in me and with lots of work at my local Celebrate Recovery got me to 5 years clean and sober. Thank you Rick, John, and Cheryl for starting this program and giving me a future.

Celebrate Recovery changes my life daily. I am closer to God now, than ever before. I am not perfect but I am a work in progress. CR's tools can be used in every aspect of our lives--- but first we have to admit WE have problems. It's not always everyone else's fault. At some point in time, we have to take responsibility for our own actions. Don't be mad when God points out things in your life that need to change. Be thankful He loves you enough to show them to you, so you can grow in Him and learn to be proud of your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. God chooses us because we are broken and willing to change. I am honored to be one of THOSE PEOPLE-- all the disciples were THOSE PEOPLE.

What’s fun is that the 12 steps were written by born-again alcoholics in the 1930’s - the steps were their version of a rapid progression to becoming born-again (alcoholics need to get to the core quickly and keep it simple). They changed Jesus to “Higher Power” to make the atheists/agnostics feel welcomed. Perfect for this hardcore atheist here... I think I’ll give celebrate Recovery a try since Jesus is my Lord and Savior now.

This might surprise some people, but the core of the Sacrament of Confession is explicitly established by Christ himself in Scripture. In the Gospel of John, after he has risen from the dead, Jesus appears to his disciples and this happens: “Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.‘” (John 20.21-23) Right there, Jesus explicitly gives his Apostles the power to give and withhold forgiveness of sins, which is the basis for the Sacrament of Confession. And the Church practiced this from the beginning. The power of Confession depends entirely on the sacrifice of Christ. Christ earned infinite grace on the cross, and the Sacrament of Confession is one important way that grace is applied to an individual.

Trusting in Christ and confessing you are a sinner to Him only. He hears us. No need to tell a priest. The Gospel is repentance and Faith in His sacrifice that you are forgiven.

Jesus is very much a person now and is alive. Why would we confess to another sinful man in order to have sins forgiven? Makes no sense.
@willowgreen664 жыл бұрын
@@andreav1706 excellent question. We don’t confess to one another in order to receive Christ’s forgiveness- you are correct that repentance is a personal thing between yourself and Jesus Christ. The confessing to one another is additional support we give to each other to help us through difficult times especially if we have sinned against that person. It’s also important to note that we don’t just go around confessing to everybody we have to use our discernment and who we can trust and we are only confessing to our brothers and sisters in the body Christ who we trust. Got questions has a good explanation too. Here is the Bible verse James 5:16, KJV: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16, NASB: “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.

I am sad when some who call themselves "brothers in Christ" treat others like they are not. I doubt you have ever really investigated CR. I further doubt that you have been healed from a bitter spirit. Christ can do His work without CR, but after 15 years experience in CR, I have found the power of God which has transformed my life and brought me to Christ in a way that keeps on bringing other people to Christ to find healing for their lives. May you find real healing for your bitterness.

Celebrate Recovery is not the best recovery group for newcomers with chemical dependency. A sponsor doesn’t work the steps with you, and they require you to attend step study group. I arrived after the step study group started, so was told that I had to wait. When I went through the workbooks by myself, I was told not to. In comparison to other 12 step programs, CR has over complicated the steps. (The original AA Big Book says that it’s a “simple program” in the second sentence of ‘How It Works” but that is untrue of CR.) An addict is at greater risk for relapse if they have to wait for the stars to align before they start working the 12 steps!

What a Crock! They have this program at my Church. We no longer serve Wine at communion because that would be too much of a temptation for the alcoholics! I’m addicted to food! And Water!
