Thank you so much for this and all of your videos. I wish more people in this comment section would just enjoy a literal slice of life from 100 years ago and not feel the need to analyze or project their own expectations or biases onto what is just a document of daily life, no more no less but completely fascinating and beautiful. Greetings from Florida. Thanks again. I love this.

I am an Englishman living in rural Brittany. My Breton neighbour Claude was wearing clogs right up to his sad passing in 2010. My house is well known here as it is the remains of a Manoir which was a safehouse during the revolution, But more recently a French Resistance safehouse for British Parachutist's. I met the mother of and all six children who were born in this very kitchen during the occupation. The family shared photos of them going to the village on a horse and cart in the 1970's dressed in traditional clothes.. To my British eyes it looked like a colour photo from the 1870's!!!

you dont know that. You can't read people's minds nor do you have a crystal ball that can predict what others' opinions are or were. I live near the Amish. They do not use electricity, cars, phones, computers, etc...they dress simply and work all day...yet have an amazing, happy, joy and love-filled existence and an incredibly resilient community around them. Stop pushing the false narrative that the simple, rural life is HARD AND HORRIBLE. The simple life of valuing family, living according to the timeline and pace of nature, producing your own food, is a rich and rewarding life. Living surrounded by concrete, going to your car, parking lot to parking lot, staring at a phone, eating processed food you did not grow yourself, allowing media to dictate your thoughts and beliefs...that is horrible in the opinion of many.

The person "colorizing" these films seems not to have ever seen Marken as all buildings there have a very distinct color that you can't see in this video.

It's a computer algorithm and it cannot simply recreate all colours from black and white material but only guess shades. Apparently the focus lies on skin tones...
