Very chuffed to see so many great 60s songs from someone who appears to be so young. You've really done your homework! I especially loved seeing "Don't Talk to Strangers" and "Friends of Mine." And the artists in the 1980s-90s block were the ones who got me through those decades when there was little else to love. Well done! If you'll permit me just one correction...the "Substitute" riff is played xx0775 xx0232 xx0655 xx0433 xx0232 This is per Pete Townshend himself, who wrote a personal note in a collection of Who sheet music on this song's page and said "There's been a lot of controversy over this...but here is how I played it."

Liam, you're a fabulous player. I've loved "Rickys" ever since I heard George Harrison and John Lennon with the Beatles followed closely by Roger McGuin and the Byrds. That sound is simply one of the best in guitar music. . ,ever. Btw, there's a band out of the ''80s called the SMITHEREENS. Their lead guitarist used a Reickenbacker 360 for the majority of their work. He was very distinctive. You may wish to check them out. Thanks for sharing this. My compliments.

"There She Goes" by The Las did not feature any Rickenbacker guitars. Most sources suggest the main riff was played on a Gibson ES-355. However, the song would probably sound great played on a Rickenbacker 12 string or any 12 string for that matter.
@ianbartle4564 ай бұрын
@@karmicselling4252 Yes all true - Possibly one of the great pieces of jangle pop NOT to be recorded on the RIC 12. When SNTR covered it, I think they went with a '66 Fender 12 with distinctive hockey stick neck end - which I believe was also used on their other hit, Kiss Me. Both good tunes which feature that rare Fender in the videos. Those 66's are worth about US$6000 so they've aged pretty well in terms of collectability. To be fair, I'd likely get a smoother effect myself on a ES-355! Sounds totally good enough. It's a pretty tough riff to bang out on a RIC 12 with a 100% clean n clear tone, with no bum notes at all. Lotsa practice needed to really nail it down to recording standard.

How could you not include even one song from the greatest Ric 12 string player of all time, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds. Mr. Tambourine Man which changed the course of rock history or Turn! Turn! Turn!, both of which were Billboard #1 hits, or 8 Miles High, a landmark song that ushered in psychedelic rock, all three should have made this medley instead of some of the mediocre songs that were included.

I've been meaning to start doing some Jefferson Airplane covers, I read a quote from Jorma that he used a Guild Thunderbird on the first 2 albums, so I've got the right combo of the Rick and Guild, Paul Kantner doesn't get enough recognition for his Rick 12 parts. Also I appreciated the inclusion of the There She Goes by the La's. I had gotten into Sixpence None The Richer at one point and had read the guitarist was heavily influenced into getting a 12-string by The Sundays. They've got some really cool 12-string parts on their first album like this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZrPdaWqesykrrM Edit: Upon further inspection that might actually just be a chorus pedal haha, but he had me fooled
