The great Steve Ferrone on DRUMS, holding the groove. Like he did for so many years with the Average White Band. I also saw him perform with Jefferey Osborne in 1983. Also with Eric Clapton in the summer of 1990; the tour which should've featured the late Stevie Ray Vaughn. Prior to his (Stevie's) untimely death.

I understand the idea but I think it's fundamentally flawed. Just doesn't work, multiple bass players.

Dang, Ricky Minor, is sinking! I can not believe he is like the "Anti-Groove"... Lousy sound, lousy technique.... he knows he's in the deep end with two sharks.... ouch!

Rickey Minor is really pretty weak as a player, I honestly can't believe he landed the American Idol gig, he's a lucky mother.

Jpkrao i couldn't disagree more... Ricky minor is so much more than a bassist... a music director, producer and teacher, and as much as American idol sucks.. Ricky dose not.. these are pro and they are human playing live and free lance jamming, come on... sometimes you find the groove and pocket sometimes not... i know nothing about The dancing with the stars house band, but they sound great to me... and the Voice has the best players in the biz hands down Sasha Krivtsov is the bassist and hes incredible with a long list of musical achievements most of us couldn't achieve in 2 lifetimes....

Id have to agree that he can't shed like the other players, but Ricky isn't hired just on his solo bass skills. He's hired because 1. He plays the song/pocket pretty dang well. 2. He's a musical director with one of the highest success records for whatever he puts his hands. 3. He produces results. 4. He knows the business very well and he's easy to work with. Solo skills aren't everything. More often than not a bassist gets hired to "play the song" rather than solo and shed it up the whole time.
