Thank you, Dr. Rick! As someone who has never learned how to trust myself, this was very helpful!

Thank you, Coach Rick. I am doing my own internal work because I'm at the crossroads of a Life choice that will take courage or the much easier road that even now, I can see would ultimately be a path to victimhood. I found your talk timely and helpful.

Wonderful talk. I think many of us go to great lengths, maybe design our whole lives, trying to avoid the grief that comes with the disenchantment you describe.

This wonderful discourse doubles up as a dhamma talk. Feeling overwhelmed lately so I'm taking home the message to look everyday for the power, big or small, i have to make my life better ✨️ Thank you Dr. Rick🙏

So many jewels in your talk today. Thank you. I will try to remember to tread carefully in dangerous or tricky times. Also speaking truth or choosing harmony may yield neither. It is strange how my understanding of choices has finally taken deeper rooting but still on shaky ground . Care for the drop. Love…

Dr. Hanson 🙏 Your talk so timely for me, thank you. Even at age 70 and having raised my kids, taken care of family, worked at the same job for 31 years I do begin each day and every task with anxiety and a sense of resistance. I have Bartlby moments where I just don’t want to. I believe having entered this life reluctantly by forceps says it all. As for personal responsibility, I have just been given an unexpected diagnosis after 70 years of a healthy life and life style. I see this experience as a focused and important sense of personal responsibility for my mind, thoughts, and body. I live alone and therefore, each and every day is now focused training. Could you please recommend a preferred translation of the Dhamma Padma? Thank you.

Bless you. Your comment carried to me an overwhelming sense that you are on a divine rare path of healing & great cosmic purpose. It really helped me today, also.

Eknath Easwaran is often recommended, and I like Gil Fronsdal’s translation too.

@@jamiecampbell2637 love Eknath Easwaran. His autobiography profound. He's oddly obscure, but too universal for personal fame. He recommended St Francis's "make me an instrument " for daily memorized prayer, 30 minutes.

I thought I had found my peace after years of striving for it. . I’d worked hard to get there but the last year has upended me. My younger sister is an end stage alcoholic of many years. I veer between love and anger with her, she has us dancing on all levels and the advice to distance ourselves is difficult as she now has dementia. She risks her life daily. My baby grandson was diagnosed with a life altering rare condition, he has severe developmental delays and his Mom and Dad are exhausted. My grandson from another daughter is 12 and is clinically addicted to video games and has threatened his own life, we don’t have full control as my daughters ex parter has created this situation. My anxiety is present even before I open my eyes.

Life is hard for some of us, hope you can set aside some time to distract your brain from all of this stress and worry. I like to go in the garden and plant, weed, and get distance that way for a short time.

I believe we are not to give advice but here it comes. Consider to have a visit with 1:21 Adult Children of Alcoholics so that you may connect with others who are committed to working constructively through similar circumstances. Peace to us all
