Hey Rick, I don't think that I could have made it up to the cul de sac let alone the stairs, it's an accomplishment for me to make it up the 16 steps to my apartment, especially with groceries!!! I'm glad that you're young & able to handle the stairs, I really appreciate you doing that for all of us!!! I absolutely love these field trip videos & I thank you so much for making them for everyone to enjoy!!! I don't get out as much as I used to but I feel fortunate to live in Southern California with it's rich history, especially the filming locations of yesteryear!!! Thanks for sharing another great video!!!! 👍👍😁

As a lifelong lover of history, I really appreciate someone as young as you are having the openness of mind and the appreciation of heart for what has gone before. Thank you so much for these videos. I really enjoy the videos on the classic TV shows, but these outside personal explorations you do are certainly interesting and informative. In my younger days, I used to do things like that but I've never been on the west coast. To you listen to you talk about it, you're mind amazes me. Thank you so much and I'm certainly glad I discovered your video channel during covid. Look forward to your product every day. In addition, your belief in positivity, optimism and, yes, hope, is reflective of how I've tried to live my life. Keep up the great work, thanks for this video especially, and let's do some Little Rascals!

Rick, many thanks for this video! This is one of my favorite Stooges episodes that I have watched over my lifetime at least 100 times! The rich history in this episode is priceless. Everyone in those days had an icebox and icemen came by twice a week with a horse drawn cart to deliver ice. A decade later, electric fridges would end this industry. I love this episode because so much comedy and stuff happens in this short. All the stair gags, and remember that Curly had a bad ankle, yet motored up those stairs at top speed. The uncooperative horse, the site gags with Vernon Dent and the cake. The laughs in the kitchen as they prepare the dinner. Curly "shaving some ice" and his hilarious comments. Stuffing the turkey and all the gags. The birthday dinner for Vernon Dent and all the things stuffed in the turkey. This was comedic genius in under 20 minutes and every time I watch it, it brings back memories to when I was a child and just makes me laugh every time. There was a modest frame house to the right as you climbed the stairs where the lady asks for the ice and now it looks like a contemporary flat roof home is in the same spot. Sixty years have passed but their episode endures and prevails......thanks again Rick...this was a special video.

Enjoyed the tour. Reminds me of my visit to the Music Box steps over 20 years ago. I think I read somewhere that both are in the same general area of LA on opposite sides of the hills. I am amazed to see the Stooge steps situated at the end of a cul-de-sac as it did not look like that in the film. Amazing how far a little framing and viewer imagination can go. I have to mail you a free ice sample for this one! Another set of steps of interest is in Washington, DC, Georgetown area where "The Exorcist" was filmed. "St. Elmo's Fire" shot on the same streets at the top.

Thank You so very much for showing us these stairs it is obvious that it has been super built up in the 80 plus years since the Three Stooges made the short. It also shows what overlooked and taken advantage of they were often really risking life and limb for their fans. One of the few comedy groups you can watch without having to think about their era to get their jokes timeless!!

WOW! I believe Laurel and Hardy also used this same location in at least two shorts. The screen comedians of long ago could simply look at a location like this, and immediately, their heads would fill with ideas about what they could do to milk maximum comic effect out of this set of 147 concrete stairs! Imagine being on the crew that had to haul a heavy studio camera and sound equipment up and down this incredibly long, incredibly steep set of stairs just to shoot what was known as a “two-reeler”! I had often wondered where these stairs were, being a fan of the old two-reelers myself! Thanks, Rick, for locating this place for us all! But I was hoping you’d show us a MAP of the area so those of us that live nearby could GO THERE AND SEE THE PLACE IN PERSON!!!!! Anyway, GREAT JOB, MY FRIEND!!! More, PLEASE?

Rick, in your own distinctively unique way you are taking up a bit with what the late Huell Howser did for years on his PBS program out of KCET Channel 28 Los Angeles - California’s Gold - which he did not only around Los Angeles, but across the state as well - keep at it, bud! I’ve always enjoyed hearing that kind, gentle voice of yours narrating those various videos you’ve created over the time you’ve been doing all of that, but it’s even better now getting not only to see that handsome, delightful face of yours that goes with that endearing voice, but most especially now with your doing these location pieces around in my birth place. You’re having quite a positive effect on a variety of lives, and situations impacting those lives in your own very special, and unique way just as even actress Judy Norton is doing twice a week on here with her Ask Judy program all about how the Walton’s TV series was made that she was an integral part of. Keep at what you’re doing bud with these on location pieces, with that evident infectious enthusiasm for showing us those various locations. I know we all truly appreciate you sharing these special places, and the unique history behind them. God richly bless you, bud, and big big hugs from a tired old shut in of a soul out here in north Long Beach!!!

Interesting video. My one awesome film location was visiting the Lone Ranger rock. It was many years ago and I don't know if it's still there or not because there was a housing development encroaching on it. What amazed me was how the heck they ever got those giant camera rigs up there to film the horse Silver rearing up. It's really a small narrow space. I talked to a resident whose house was right behind the rock, and she had no idea the significance of the rock (and didn't seem to care) that was seen every week by millions of viewers in the 1950s. "Hi-yo, Silver, away!"
