This is definitely square stitch, as Allie states. Herringbone is slightly different, the beads sit in a V shape. Again Allie, absolutely beautiful!

To make a long necklace or wrap bracelet, would it be 27 inches for each strand (as a general guesstimate for a 7 inch piece to wrap 3 times)?

It is square stitch. Herringbone is a tad different. The thread will go to the sides on the step up and the beads will sit at a V for the herringbone stitch
