You’re right - there’s SO much more to “my museum”! I’m so glad you were able to show as much as you did! (39 buildings on 45 acres can challenge even the best traveler; luckily, admission is good for two consecutive days.) My kids used to love to “lock me in jail” at the Castleton Jail. The carousel is a giant hit with all ages. One of the coolest places (literally) is on the Engine Deck of the Ticonderoga - starting with the kitchen! If you use your imagination, and encourage your kids to use theirs, it’s a much more engaging experience. I could go on and on about the things that he didn’t have time to show: Walking through the private train car, visiting the Ticonderoga guide up in the wheelhouse (where you can pretend to steer the ship, of course...), the train station inside with its incredible 1800’s feel, and Beach Lodge which contains the actual bear that our actual founder actually shot! But one of the places I love best here is the Electra Havemeyer Webb building, a giant white-columned building with a reproduction of Mrs. Webb’s NYC apartment inside. Her furnishings, surrounded by works of Monet, Degas, and Mary Cassatt, who was a friend of the family! There’s a lot for kids, too. I fell in love with this museum again when I started working here 3 years ago (I’m a secretary), so I’m super-biased.

Thank you so much for adding that info to my Video. It is much appreciated and I always try to show enough of great places like this to entice people to visit, without looking like a commercial. I hope many others read through this comment !

Thanks for the video, the museum is one of my favorite place in Vermont: full of history, actually full of the best part of America history:the gilded age.

We use to live in Sudbury Mass and would travel to New Hampshire and Vermont all the time. Beautiful county up there. And my wife LOVES the small shops you find around ever corner! Thanks for sharing we love your campground reviews. It seems you are the only one doing them on a regular basis.

I only wish I was camping more often to give you more of them. And as far as visiting Vermont, my only recommendation to most people is "Eat at good restaurants!" The food in Vermont is excellent !

Well, I suddenly thought that I would search for Shelburne museum on you tube and there it was. I went there a few times in the eighties when I was a kid. Great memories!

That was a big museum, like those buggies. Covered bridge 😊, not a lot of those left. Great video 👍

Thanks. Ya, I have a special place for covered bridges !! They are just cool, almost like tunnels ! The buggies were cool too, but there were so many of them !! LOL

Thanks, again, for a great video. More places to put on the future travels list. Can't wait for my husband's retirement and our new pickup and aliner. Missed seeing the doggies; give them a hug from me.

What a wonderful video. We planned on a day visit to the museum but may need to add a day to get the most out of it. You did a great presentation. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment. But I warn you, I just touched the surface!! You can spend several days checking it all out! And if you don't find it so interesting, Ben & Jerry's is just up the road!

Hey Rick, if you are ever around Michigan, I can show you The Henry Ford museum & Greenfield Village in Dearborn.

Thanks Robert. I was hoping to get to Michigan this summer, but my kids are pulling me to help them pack up and move to a new college. So I'm up in the air about where I will be come September. I have long lost ancestors up near Manistee. I want to go walk on the earth they did !! Do a little genealogy research. But I would need more than a week. Might have to wait until next year !

The Boys live to be in the Exploder, and it was a cool cloudy windy day, so I let them come and hang out in the car while I did the tour. They had the windows open and a large bucket of water. So they were okay.
