I have enjoyed Rick's videos for years, but I have to question his course management here. First, if I was coming off my worst ever warm-up session I would not announce that I was going to play driver all day. First hole (330 yards), make sure you just set up a wedge shot by using whatever is a 230 yard club in your bag. That way you build your confidence and don't walk off with an immediate double bogey. Seventh hole his drive rolls into the water when 3-wood would have been sufficient. Last hole he wants to "annihilate" the ball with his driver. Why? He does best when he smooths his swing and still gets plenty of distance. He had some bad luck with the putter, but the real problem was not hitting the scoring areas off the tee.
@leonardhandzlik60088 ай бұрын
Finally, a criticism that isn't snide, and I can agree with. I think the single biggest problem with Rick is he hits his driver too often.

I agree with everything you said. I watched him do a 9 hole video playing only irons and he shot 3 under. He doesn’t need driver every time on a par 4 or par 5. He should follow 2 rules, get the ball in play then get it on the green. Birdies will come to you.

Solid comment. Thumbs up. I'd also take it one step farther and point out to Rick that his full wedge shots in this round were laser focused. On holes where he can...hit an approach shot that puts him at 125 in so that he can put that wedge inside of ten feet.

His biggest problem by far is his hips firing to early trapping him on the inside he then has to stall and flip to try and sync his swing up. I've got an Arnold Palmer designed course, a Nancy Lopez designed course and a former PGA Champions Tour course in my backyard I play all the time and I was really kinda hoping he'd hit one of them up, but he's playing some really high end stuff in this year's Florida swing so I'm not shocked he didn't trek over my way more. But it would be really nice if he comes in the future to have a Florida meet up of some kind, his content has really served me well over the years, and I've built a nice bag that suits me because his content taught me what kind of equipment to look for. My goal of breaking 90 on the Arnold Palmer Legends course happened last month with an 88. I'd still be shooting 100+ rounds if not for what I've learned on this channel.

May I ask what your handicap is. You need to realise Rick was a very good golfer rick would of been scratch. Knowing you're able to shoot even par and a slight pull every few holes is causing you lost shots is going to be frustrating. Why can't rick do it? the pros do it. I'm a 8 handicapper who just shot 100 yesterday for the first time in about 2 years. It was frustrating as hell. I don't normally get angry I can normally hold it together. I've had rounds where I'm 12 over par with 4 holes to go and I'll pull another shot and it's frustrating. I know that one miss is causing me 6 to 10 shots a round. The 2 days recently where I didn't pull a shot I went -3 for 9 hole match and +1 for a 18 holes match. I know the games there but it's tiny mistakes thats causing issues. This is exactly what rick is going through atm. Give the guy a freaking break.
@tomsanger55488 ай бұрын
Agree. He overcompensates by trying to talk a positive game & then when his real game bites him we have to hear all the ahh's & whining. If you constantly have to try to talk yourself into being positive then the underlying reality is you are assuming negative is what you will likely do. Unfortunately there are a lot of other similar channels that are a lot more entertaining.

Your response is "Driver, going to be driver all day today" - I literally fell over laughing so so hard. All I could think of was exactly how I sound on the golf course hahahaha.
