Where I see technology like this being useful, is as a training aid to help people read putts. I would never suggest wearing this while putting; but set someone up with a putt, have them read it normally (i.e. "I see this as slightly uphill, 6 inch break left-to-right") and putt it normally. Then have them put the gizmo on and re-read the putt, get a new aim point, take the gizmo off and try the putt again. People need to be able to use their own eyes, plus the information from walking the green (you can FEEL the slopes with your feet), and sometimes even taking wind into account, to actually read the putt. Putting is very much about FEEL, being able to use your senses to figure out the line and speed is a skill people need to learn. Used well, this kind of technology could be helpful - but I fear some would use it as a "crutch" and never learn to read putts unassisted.

@@krusher74 I watched the whole video, and I heard that part.... then 80% of the video is Rick putting while wearing the glasses. Yes, it SHOULD be used as a training aid to help people learn to read greens. My point was, take the thing off while you're actually hitting the putt. You do not want to get dependent on that kind of "here's your target line, here's a thing to square your putter up to" aid while you're hitting the putt.

The good news is: even if people only use it as a "crutch" they will still learn. 7:12 Below? Huh? The left is the high side with a l-r breaker. Ball tracked the first 40% right on blue line and then stayed high for the remainder. Had you hit it harder (instead of die-at-hole speed), the ball would've ended up even more to the high side. Both of your puts at this hole indicate the system's blue line is not reliable. And that's precisely what one should expect (from this gimmick). I mean sure, it can be right from time to time...on certain putts. But besides contours, grain can radically influence lines. And speed is a guess...always influx due to various weather matters. That aside, the accuracy of the scan and then the processing of that (not always reliable scan) data leaves lots of room for errors. It's in combining all of those problem areas that...jfc...you'd be hard pressed to make a case for any value. And that would be true even if it was priced at $19.99.

Technology continuously helps lower scores, but the courses are remaining the same. When is it going to be "Too much"? I feel we are hitting a point that maybe the "Courses/Game itself" needs love. Tough love that is. Imagine the hole diameter being reduced by just 1/8" (0.3 centimeters). That impact would be like a hurricane. Maybe a maximum fairway width of 30 yards, forcing us all to play tighter. Like how the NFL extra point was so easy, to make it more challenging for the game, they moved it back. I may not be explaining myself the best. Hope some people understand my point. Just an old guys thoughts. Thanks Rick and Rock on 🤘😎
