Thanks so much for the awesome comments guys!! I notice a few of you have mentioned that the audio of the video is sped up in parts and makes me sound like a chipmunk haha! I am looking into it, it's very strange as it's not affecting everyone! I am pretty sure it's only happening on the KZbin app! If you copy and paste the link here kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnXHpXZnpa1mm8U and watch on your browser it should work just fine! Thanks Rick

The leaking to the right you noticed may have been from delofting the driver. In taylormade drivers when you deloft them it then opens the face a few degrees, and vice versa if you add loft it closes the face. Just a thought, love the review!

I am a newer golfer and took lessons for a year while playing the M1. The M4 (with a White Tie Ozik R-flex shaft) was hitting draws and straight shots right out of the gate with little to no swing changes. If anything, I am able to swing with more power (and go lot further) with the M4 since I can trust it's not going to spin off the face and go OB. There's still an occasional slice, but I usually only go left (I'm a lefty) if I block it. This is a great deal on a used club for your money.

Good honest review...all twist face does is cure one problem,but creates another,so no difference what so ever,apart from wasting over £400.In years gone by id buy a new driver every year because all we had was golf magazine reviews(no GC quad or ball data ,distance spin etc)so I fooled myself by believing the latest marketing buzzwords.But now with KZbin and golfers like Rick Shiels now prove that technology has been the same for over five years.Just by watching his reviews over the years you can see this and hear this..Look at his performance with the old G20 driver!!!blew this m3/4 out of the water and so have all the drivers he's reviewed as well from years gone by.Thanks Rick youve saved me a fortune these past few years👍🏻

As not a great golfer - I tried the Rogue, M4 and G30 (all 9.5-10 deg + stiff shafts) - the M4 rocks for me. I'm not a good enough golfer to play draws or fades yet - just need a driver to get it where I'm "somewhat" aiming to go - M4 does that in spades. 275 + yard carry with just a little draw. I dropped the angle down to sub 9 deg and I'm loving it. low flight bullets with rolls to near 300 +/- 20 yard deviation from my target line. Big fan.

just bought this from my local driving range. My normal shot shape is a draw or snap hook. I also def found it faded more than I was used to, but only to the point it was 10yds offline. and I didnt get any snap hooks or over draw. I think twist face may actually be beneficial to my swing. Time will tell. One weird thing is that I seemed to be able to swing it faster than any other driver by 3+mph consistantly. Tested 7 drivers in total. This just seemed to suit me best. Also it has the custom black paint rather than silver, looks awesome. Very happy with my £115 splurge. Of course came straight to Rick to see what he had to say. Kinda glad I tested it first as I dont think I would have bothered. Like Rick says you have to test for yourself.

@MrJohnnyb74

I've been playing about a year and a half and have been wanting to test this driver since it's the most inexpensive model with Twist Face. I bought a 10.5* model off eBay for $150 and it was paired with a Matrix White Tie 55g R-flex shaft. I was hitting natural draws with ease where before my 2017 M1 was favoring a fade/slice. Even shots off the toe with the M4 weren't fading or slicing. The M4 could be more suited for an average swing speed as I wasn't skying the ball anymore than my 2017 M1 set to 10.25* of loft. I also have a TM Mini Driver and the Twist Face really isn't a gimmick in my opinion.

Rick if you are looking to test driver sound, which I think is mightily important when choosing a club, there are two factors you have to remember. First is you can measure the decibels that the driver puts out using a decibels meter. This measures how physically loud the driver is. But more importantly is measuring pitch, which is the frequency of the sound. Pitcher helps determine the piercing capabilities of sound through the air and is why higher pitched noises sound louder even when producing lower decibel levels than lower pitched noises. Pitch of a sound can be measured by computer programs by recording with your mic. I wouldn't be surprised if some of your recording software has those capabilities now and if not, there are plenty of programs online.

Finally watch the M4 video in my browser and all I can say is wow! The new format quality just between M3 and M4 is better. Would nice to hear some of the on course comments live as you hit the shots. Kind of a gut reaction to what you are feeling and seeing. Seems like even some tour plays are struggling with twist face. Tiger was playing the new M3 at Torrey Pines and he was really struggling to find fairways I think he hit like 12 out of 58 for the week and it was a double miss. Maybe he should go back to the M1 he played at the Hero. Still great to see Tiger back making cuts.

Rick a decibel meter is all you need. The average driver generates about 82-90 dBA of sound. To put that into terms for you by hitting a basket of balls with your driver you will be subjected to less than 2% of your daily "average". Of course this depends on swing speed and smash factor however until the dBA rise above 116 there is no real threat to long term hearing loss :) An interesting factor is that the dBA we are subject to vary with "near ear" and "far ear" (ear close to the golf ball at impact) hope this helped from a fellow PGA Professional from Poland. Love your work m8.

I love the M4, I play a fade shot. So when I do hit it off the toe it keeps me from drawing my shot when I’m aiming left. So my miss isn’t as bad and keepsake in the fairway or just off the fairway left. Without the twist face I might end up getting a big duck hook. M4 suits my swing perfectly.

I like the new style of reviewing. While I like getting to see a wide variety of clubs, I am more interested in seeing how you view the technology that is going into the clubs and how that technology plays out in performance. Having you test these clubs more in-depth provides a greater sample size and makes the review mean more. As an engineer who loves sports, I enjoy watching these videos primarily for the science and how the advances in technology are playing into golf club manufacturing. I also enjoy seeing what "technology" is real and what is more for the sales pitch. Great job and keep up the good work!

Loving the new in-depth test format Rick! No need to measure the Db levels, just rank the sound in categories; Quiet/dull........Moderate/dull.........Moderate/tiny..........Loud.........&Holy Shit that`s DEAFENING!!!!!!! I`m thinking of changing my Ping G30 SFT this year, so I`m planning to try out the Ping G400, Callaway Rogue Draw bias & the TM M3/4 (seeing if they work with my old mans low heel strike). But I suspect that none of them will be any better than my current "fairway finder".

Great review Rick, thanks for doing this. Shot #8 that you were so upset about because it went right, was only 142 rpm to the right, which would be a slight Power fade, and you carried it 292 yards! SIGN ME UP for that carry. I can always aim a little left! You should put a piece of making tape on the ground for your toe line to make sure you are set up the same every time. I have noticed slight aiming differences in your testing videos.

Am sure I can speak for most golfers out there for their concern of this twisted face on club/s. Our aim is to hit the sweet spot on every club to send the ball to their intended target, that is what we are taught/shown and it does make common sense in our goal/s! Am sure a lot of money time and research has gone into this product, but am sure longer distance off the tee is every golfer aim as one does not intend to hit the toe or heal of the club! your video showed the danger/s of receiving a ball flight which you did not intend! In saying all this, I will look forward in trying the club out just for my own curiosity! Many thanks for the demo!

I just started seriously golfing the start of last year. I’ve had a mean slice like most beginners but have taken that out in almost all my clubs but driver. All my other clubs going pretty straight, not really drawing or fading but my driver has still had a mean slice. Got this driver from a friend this year and felt like my slice got worse, had a few days of practice where something clicked and every ball was straight and going a mile but haven’t been able to recreate that consistently. Otherwise I see the ball spin like no tomorrow, leave straight and go 100yards hard right where as a few other drivers I’ve tried tend to slightly fade. This video makes me think the spin rate is too crazy for me. Obviously still working on my swing. Went from a normal score around 110 to consistently mid 90s while struggling to get off the tee box with this driver
