Tried it, bought it. As a 11 handicap golfer, I've seen a few yards improvement (6-10 yds better than my Aeroburner) in average distance after about 6 rounds. I seem to be hitting more fairways and have fewer big misses left and right. It just seems more consistent and my GameGolf stats also confirm this after a limited trial. I should add that this club was purchased at a golf store where I received some advice on my swing and was "fitted", though its a stock 10.5 deg driver with a regular shaft so there were no customized adjustments to the driver. Minor improvements in consistency and distance could be due to improved skill and conditioning this season, but whatever, I am enjoying playing the M4.

Went for a fitting last week, tried a few different manufacturers but M4 came out by far best on test. I'm not seeing huge differences in "twist face" but I was hitting it loads straighter than my current SLDR, which was to be expected. But as a 14 handicapper, who loses most of my shots due to irrattic tee shots, I feel this is gonna help loads. Plus 111mph club head and 167mph ball speed has got to be good!

Credit where it's due. You could of absolutely slated that driver but once again a fair and honest review. What were TM so bothered about 🤔? If anything most people having watched that would be more inclined to go and test it for themselves!!

I just bought the M4. Played a few rounds last week. No idea what twistface is doing BUT..I got fitted for a Titliest D2 and a Ping G400 and they all go the same distance on centred hits BUT dispersion on the M4 was remarkable. Like I mean rock my world hitting fairways. Is it the tech or me, who cares. Love the club. Great driver. Good review mark. You need to get fitted for them all, play a round or two with a demo club then sit back and review what worked best and consistently before parting with your hard earned money

Valid point on the tolerances. The retail drivers can be +/-1 from the advertised loft so I am doubtful they can get the high toe and low heel within +/-0.5 unless their QC department is working overtime.

I bought an M4 driver recently and I am very happy with it in fact it’s probably the best driver I have ever had. I don’t think that many people buy it on the basis of the twist face technology they buy it because it’s a brilliant club and I think the best available at the moment.

Another good opinion bra. I have the 2016 & 2017 M1 drivers, after hitting both I still believe in my opinion the 2016 M1 driver is the best they've built in this series. Bare in mind that due to COR testing which has been around since the early 2000's all gains will be minimal. I like & I use roll & bulge, I don't like the look of the new M3 or M4 so I won't be changing to twist face anytime soon.

An honest opinion piece - well done, Mark. I tested the TM M4 recently, having decided to move on from my Titleist 915 D2. I also tested the 917 D2, 917 D3, Ping G400 & G400 Max, Callaway Rogue, Rogue Draw and Rogue Sub Zero. TM M4 was fine - looks and sounds good, numbers were fine. As I wasn't striking particularly well on that day I went back a few days and hit a few of these again. With a middling swing speed (c.95mph) - and somewhat erratic strike that typically delivers too much spin - I was somewhat surprised that the Rogue SZ was the best fit for me, as lowest spin meant that carry was c.10-15yds better than most of the others. So, as you always say brah, test different clubs, have a fitting - and take lessons. It has certainly worked for me :-)

I think TaylorMade owe you an apology. Fair and honest review. Twist face looks like a gimmick to me but that’s just my opinion. I’ll be sticking with my 7.5 degree mizuno driver. For club reviews, all I'm looking for is for someone to tell me whether it is crap or not. If it is crap, I won't waste my time when it is time for new clubs. Of those that are left, I'll go get a fitting, hit them and feel how I like them. I'm not the greatest golfer so I understand that I am the issue most of the time. I just need reliable clubs that feel good when they are struck well to give me that feedback that I grooved that swing. The only thing game changing for me would be if I was to take the improvement from lessons out on the course with me and I haven't seen a club yet that can do that.

Just gamed one today for 18 holes, man was I crushing it...and straight! I normally use the 2016 M2 and the difference in feel, sound and aesthetics in the M4 are pretty game changing for me, at least. I've tested all the new clubs from all brands in hope that I can gain yards / accuracy however nothing comes close to it for me. Hype all is Hype. thanks for another great real world test. I don't know if you know it but you've got Rick Shiels doing real world tests. Personally I think hitting golf balls off of a matt is a waste of time. what do you think? you can hit it a little fat of a matt and still get good results. Tested them as well as other 2018 driver models. Great dry ball data and felt great. Average 220 carry spinning around 2200. Rouge performed a bit better for me. None of them performed well enough replace what I’m gaming which is a Nike Vapor Speed. Hit it while testing new equipment. Still hit the Nike Vapor average 220 carry spinning around 2400. Just goes to show that there’s a club for everyone. Doesn’t matter what’s on the head. Your numbers where a bit lower with the club I game. Doesn’t mean it’s not a good club, but just not for you. I know a lot of weekend worriers would do good to test and find the right club for them and not worry about what’s on the face or if it’s twisted or not.

To set the scene, about two weeks ago I played with a pro in a members' competition. He is quite a long, high hitter who played well (under par) using a twist face. The flight of the ball was uncannily like the classic self-correcting s-shape (if viewed from above) of the old Maxfli DDH golf balls that were popular in the 1980's. Very interesting.
