Rick is killing the Swing instruction industry. Like the Magician who gives all the secrets away....and we thank you. AS for the hanging lie, ball below our feet. My opinion; the reason we mis-hit that shot. Once you start your back swin'g, You brain knows you're out of balance, and tells your thigh muscles "Stand up". I give Rick ton of credit. He's teaching and not worrying about where the ball is landing...he's showing the good, the bad and ugly...

Hi Rick , would I be correct in saying that additionally , on an uphill lie , that the ball should be moved slightly up in your stance, and on a downhill lie , the ball should be moved slightly back in your stance to adapt to the changing point where the club bottoms out in each of those situations ..? ...IMO ...LOL

This is a great video. I play a course in North Carolina where literally half the time, if you drive the ball in the fairway, you have some sort of sloping lie. But on the driving range, all the practice areas we can hit from have an absolutely flat lie. It would be great if courses like mine would put a small hill on the driving range where we can practice hitting from a sloping lie.

Rick, best lesson I've seen on this topic and one which most weekend duffers have no clue about. One other thing I was taught about downhill lies is that you should take some practice swings to see where they bottom out. Rick, you're down to earth and comfortable in your own skin. I like the fact that you are not superhuman; you're not the one-armed robot that engineers built to test clubs and golf balls. It always hits the ball straight; you don't. This was a good, informative show for uphill, downhill, etc lies; it wasn't about those compound lies where a golfer sees downhill - sidehill lies. However, I learned a lot and I enjoyed learning from someone who hits balls like "The Golf-a-holics," buit doesn't talk like he hits 'em like Ben Hogan. You have 1.28M subscribers because we can relate to you. You're one of us & you never talk down to us. That's big. Also, you are almost as good at hitting the stray & woodsy shots as Arnold Palmer. I think that's because you're a creative not a determined plodder like "Sweet Swing" Peter Finch. Finch will hit two straight balls with perfect form and wind up ten yards shy of the green. From there, he's lucky to two putt. You, on the other hand, will hit some "Wild Kingdom", off into the jungle shot off the tee, and then, you'll curve a ball off a branch leaving yourself with a birdie putt. While I admire & envy Peter's swing, I like that you can recover from your screw-ups. To me, that's more the sign of a master teacher than a guy who doesn't have the brains to aim at the flag instead of the edge of the green. Cheers.

The 14 th hole at my course - if your tee shot is to the right you end up with the ball well above your feet, 190 yards to the green - for years I have either pulled it left, or aimed right and the ball stayed right! Then one day after watching this video I managed to put my ball onto the green with my second shot by standing closer to the ball - WOW, then when we got to the eighteenth work was being carried out on the path, so we had a temp/teeing ground a 100 yards further forward, but on a slope (ball below your feet) I got down low as I could and my tee shot hut the green! All in one day WOW- It's all your fault Rick, thank you so much!
