lillian reminds me of one of my pastors while growing up. she was the type that believed that sin is sin and if you doing wrong you going to hell. she preached that so much she believed in living right for God. she would also teach us and help us so that we could get right with God so we can see his face in heaven, this is old school teaching i love it preach evangelist

Looking over the comments and it seems a lot of people are caught up in the shout, rather seeing a soul delivered. Remember the children of Israel shouted with joy when the ark of the covenant returned back into the camp, but the presence of God was not there. So Phinehas gave birth to a son named "Ichabad" meaning, "the glory departs". So we can find ourselves shouting in church and the presence of God not be there. I love the message behind this song. Yes she's the master along with Karen Clarke Sheard. I think the best way to train someone on how to ad-lib is to advise them to get in the word of God.memorize scripture, pray and have a relationship w/God..they should also have the Holy Ghost and then the 3rd thing is be comfortable with themselves..not be scared to sing...then when they're singing and the spirit comes then they'll will be a ready vessel for God to speak thru.. they'll have the relationship w/God, the word and the Holy Ghost.

Lol you took the words right out of my mouth. Im an alto. I am also a preacher. when you travel full time in ministry you dont always get that 24-48 hours that are needed to let your voice recover from the torture of gospel singing. Add to that jacked up microphones , busted monitors and poor acoustics in most churches tht refuse to invest in proper sound equipment its a wonder im not a tenor by now lol. Then we must also remember that my song is always last. we did about 16 tunes that night..
