The host was insufferable. Ricky on the other hand is a master at not letting any Jabs get at him. Ricky, you're brilliant and when I discovered your musical past, it only further cements that notion. I absolutely LOVE what I've been able to hear of Seona Dancing. I wouldn't even care if there was a connection between your two eras. Both are genuinely brilliant demonstrations of talent.

The whole "synth duo" thing became saturated after OMD started having hits. Seona Dancing didn't really stand a chance when people like OMD, Tears for Fears and Eurythmics were doing it far better. That said, Seona's tunes were decent.

ugoagogo live It is perfect for the 80's, but I'm thinking the reason why it didn't become a hit is because all the big names and music legends were on top of their game in the 80's so there was no room for new faces like Seona Dancing. I think if the band came later in mid 90's they would've had a better chance to be successful. With Ricky's talent and the looks he had, there's no way he'd fail in the 90's!

I was a teen in the 80's and loved the whole New Wave music that was around at that era. I was a big fan of bands like The Cure, Simple Minds, Bauhaus and the sorts. But I don't think I ever heard anything by Seona Dancing. Which is quite odd, as it's absolutely something I would have loved back then (and still love now). And Ricky looked amazing! A bit of a crossover between David Bowie and Peter Murphy (from Bauhaus).

1984?... around that time the industry was completely saturated with 'Duran Duran/Bowie/A-ha' etc genre, Seona Dancing were so mainstream but maybe the commercial music market of the time already had its big names...not much has changed with mainstream these days in terms of copy cat artists, musicians etc, just the way it works..still I think they were good at it, sounded and looked very in tune with the 80's pop scene and great seeing Gervais in another life, apparently he had managed the brit pop band 'Suede' for a time, he eventually poked fun at himself in 'The Office' with David Brent performing and releasing cheesy pop music, good fun. British sarcasm absolutley flies over the head of Americans. I had to be "overly" sarcastic (to the point we in Britain would consider condescending) in order to be "subtle". If I was genuinley subtle, people would take what I was saying at face value. A lot has changed since though - but calling someone a "daft sod" or "fucking idiot" is still off limits for some reason 🤔
