A strangely sincere interview from Gervais. I like it . And yes, the interviewer is very good at his job.

I'm impressed. This is probably one of my favorite Ricky interviews. George is a great interviewer. He either does his research really well, or he's a fan - & that's great. I'd prefer him to most late night guys, for sure! & I love his last name.... & that set/backdrop. Where does this air again? Canada? Looks nice.

Yeah, George is great...he's always interested in what his guest has to say, and makes it so I care too. He even makes interviews with our politicians interesting.

@JJFatty422 its because George doesn't really ask question after question. He listens, goes along with what the person he is interviewing is saying. He's very good at knowing what to say to push the person to keep talking. He makes them the important one.

Guest's movies are great...Guffman, Best in Show, For Your Consideration and my favourite A Mighty Wind - on the DVDs the commentary is actually worth listening to.

true, but we can tell those accents apart cuz we're in north america. english/scottish/irish accents are all diff, and have different regional inflections within each country. most people from north america can't tell the countries accents apart, let alone the specific regions.

People don't realize this, but there are so many Canadian talents in the world that people just don't know about. I'm Canadian and I'm constantly surprised when I discover that someone I love and follow is a fellow Canadian. It's sad really, but I suppose that people try to play down their Canadian identity in such an American-centric world :(

"There was a study with 10 year olds.. they asked them what they wanted to be and they said "Famous!" "do you ever pull these kids aside and tell them 'Its NOT all its..." "Well I always knew it wasnt and I've never respected someone because i recognize their face! Its getting to the point where people have more respect for someone who won a reality TV show than for someone who cured AIDS." Beautiful!!!

I think we're currently in the middle of the stage in which Gervais hasn't actually DONE anything for the longest time. I do think Fame was probably his best stand-up yet, though.

Best interview than our US counter parts who ask fluff questions. I don't understand why the UK would think we would not have much in common with them. We are still some what united and tied with Britian. Some of our currency still has Queen Elizabeth on it, we are on par with the UK with our education system, we actually take US, British, and Canada in history as opposed to US only taking US history. Ricky Gervais is half Canadian, his father was from London, Ontario. Love you Ricky.

You'd never see a major US network pick up a show like Kids in the Hall or Monty Python, at least not until they've been "proven" in their home country. In a lot of ways US audiences can be a bit more impatient, they're unwilling to sit through a 3 or 4 minute setup to get a punchline where in the UK or Canada you can have a bit or a sketch that doesn't even necessarily HAVE a punchline (look up, for example, "Love and Sausages" on youtube) but it's funny as a whole piece.

I'm from the UK and not to dog on America or anything as, a lot of incredible stuff comes out of the US too (as much as people slag them off), but Canada seem to generally strive for more intelligent aims, like the UK. I say that with a fair amount of ignorance actually haha, having only seen this and QTV and a few other things but a few people like Ryan Reynolds and a magician I'm aware of (I used to do magic) just make me 'feel' that underbelly of self-awareness and honesty in Canada.

Is that what American cable is? Or is it network? In the UK we have a "watershed" cut off point where vulgar language is permitted up to the discression of the director of that channel. I don't know for sure but I hear swearing of all kinds is banned on US TV. If so, that's sad.

I love how Gervais doesnt pander to the lowest common denominator like say for example will ferrel or robin willaims does. Gervais doesnt harp on the ethnic jokes to get the easy laughs. He goes after the day to day stuff which is actually harder to get right, apparently by todays standards.

@apocryphalveracity11 жыл бұрын
I think belief holds more substance than you seem to believe. Saying "babies are born atheist" is the same as saying "babies are born Christian" or "babies are born Hindu." It implies a belief system, which Mr. Gervais doesn't quite believe. He asserts that atheism is the logical lack of any irrational belief system. I'm just saying that it's a facile argument. It makes much more sense to me to say that babies are born pure, harkening back to John Locke. Nothing to do with religion, just nature.

thats bollocks! The difference between someone with a really strong london accent compared to someone with a really strong northern accent is vast. may americans cant understand northeners when they come to england, ive never seen that problem the other way round.

Gervais is so right about fame. People become famous for doing nothing nowadys, like Paris Hilton (her big achievement: daughter) And then they use their name and bring out a popsong ( wich they didn't write themselfs) lounge a clothing line ( wich they didn't design) ect...etc...etc... And people run out and buy all this shit. SAD!

@dljc1979 Yeah and why should he? It's a really strange situation where non americans and even american producers are modifying 'Britishisms' for american audiences. If we can understand 'Parking lot' why can't they grasp 'car park'?! I think it's patronising. oh sorry PATRONIZING.
