Pro tip: Shakespeare isn't old english, he's early modern english. This is a sentence in old english: Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum, þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon, hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon.

Thank you for defending us, my friend! You're a good one! You wouldn't believe how tired I am of being slagged off just for being American. I love learning about other countries and don't appreciate people calling me ignorant/stupid/fat when I said nothing mean to them and they've never even seen/met me. I hate how many of the people on the internet use this ability to connect with other people around the world to simply insult their countries and create bad stereotypes. Such a waste :(

An estate is what we call our projects. It refers to poorly-designed, densely populated collections of housing for poor people where crime and poverty and social deprivation are rife. I don't know which US city I'd compare Manchester to. It's a former industrial city that went through terrible deprivation in the 70s and 80s but has begun to reinvent itself. It's probably our Chicago.

Yes, it's not a separate language. But see, the English language has different subcategories. The two larger ones are British English and American English. British English spells "colour", while, rather, American English spells it "color". There's minor differences, such as that, between the different subcategories of the English language.

They went faster because he was lighter and smaller than the last one. The drive force of a bobsled is gravity, how would that possibly make them faster?! They would be slower, significantly slower. Otherwise all Bobsled teams would be comprised of Jockeys.

Actually... American English is a hell of a lot closer to British English than it is to "Old English". I think you meant Middle English and/or Early Modern English even then AmEn and BrEn are very close. AmEn got a huge influence from immigrants as did BrEn. Modern English is a stew anyway... it is a Romance(Latin&Norman)-Germano(AnglicDanishNorse)-Celtic(Insular and also Gaulish) mishmash. To others: there is really no point arguing who is better. Languages evolve. Feckin deal wif et.
