Ricky Gervais trolls the 'woke' people who tried to cancel him

Actor and comedian Ricky Gervais has thanked the people who tried to get him cancelled.
Mr Gervais posed a clip of his stand up ‘Armageddon’ on X.
“Thanks to everyone who complained about this trailer and even signed a petition to get #Armageddon removed from Netflix. You helped make it the most watched special in the world,” Mr Gervais wrote.
Comedian Stephen Merchant is among the comedians who have also spoken out against cancel culture.
Mr Merchant told the Observer magazine the "left" is "policing comedy" with "sensitivities that seem out of proportion to the joke".
He said comedians have to be “more cautious” than ever before to avoid “justifying” their jokes on social media.

What I mean by that is Islam says kill those who are not Muslim. The greatest honour in Islam is to die for Allia. Christianity says love those who hate you. Jesus said never said die for me. He said that those who hate me will hate you and even try and kill you. But I will die for you so you don't need to fear death because I have taken you into my house and call you family. Jesus said I have given you life live with and for me. One is about death and the other is about life. I don't want people to die I want them to change their point of view and live. But it's their choice.

The thing about comedy is that it helps us confront difficult truths. These truths can be too difficult to face head on, and the ability to laugh at it helps to make it bearable, and we can then perhaps conjure up the courage to see it for what it is and address appropriately. If you're not going to let comedy do its thing, then you're only going to end up sitting in denial of painful truths that will inevitably catch up to you -- and it may well be too late to laugh at that point.
