I had a dream last night, probably from coming back to listening to these again, where I was at a massive football ground with my dad and steve, and i was looking down on us from a 3rd person view, and steve was like 15 feet tall, really thin, and dressed head to tree in luminous green. i was literally thinking to myself whilst looking down on us 'fuck me i knew he was tall but christ'.

He did,and the same goes for the " standing on girlfriends dress " story,where it changed from someone to Karl himself that made the hole. Wonder why the change,if anyone knows,please tell. :-)

Yep and if I recall correctly it was the exact same script? I never saw the whole thing just a side by side ~10 minute comparison between the 2. If I recall correctly it didn't go further than the pilot, though correct me if I'm wrong.

Adam had just had a nervous breakdown,and was arrested for turning up in a pup,looking for someone,that in his mind had made threats towards himself and his daugther. He ended up smashing a window of the pup and waving a gun around,that turned out to be a starting pistol,but still,he got nicked,and to cut a long story short, the charges against him, which included criminal damage and threatening members of the public, were reduced to a single count of causing affray, to which he pleaded guilty.>

Steve does this too when he's telling the rugby story the first time he tells it his mum said careful someone broke their neck the next time he told it he said someone broke their back, stories from your childhood do get forgotten and replaced with half truths, i dont think its their fault it happens to everyone i know, when you're 40 try telling stories from 20+ years ago in full detail, no hate intended here I just think it's something that happens mate

So, pretty much, the HBO show tries to make Karl seem weirder than he is, cuz in the HBO show he NEVER laughs, but in the podcast he laughs a lot. Disingenuous. Still, love the podcast.
@colinmanson32010 жыл бұрын
Actually I think it's more Karl playing up for the XFM show. They used the podcasts the recorded specifically to be released as podcasts and in them I noticed Karl says a lot more weirder things like "You never get anything done by planning" and I think he played the role of the idiot. I prefer the XFM sessions a hell of a lot more as they're more natural!
@sitgilichit11 жыл бұрын
my guess is since its early in the seasons he didnt want to implicate his dad at the time so he just put himself in there so if there was any embarrassment it was on his part

Probably has more to do with the US population being 6 times larger than the British. If you have 'made a name for yourself' with 320 Million people, an extra 60 isnt that important. The other way around is much more worthwhile
@TheBestUserEU11 жыл бұрын
Yes we have different cultural values and whenever Americans attempt to replicate our humour it's rarely funny to us. That said I do like American comedy shows to some extent but in terms of sitcoms/stand up comedy and the like, Britain is usually more funny/appealing to us Brits.

> he has been in trouble with the law,on many ocations since this incident,all down to Adams mental health,that im sad to say,seems to be,fragile at best. He has been talking about a comeback for years now,and concert wise he has sort of done it,but if there ever will be any new Ant albums is hard to say.
