I agree about the Karl thing, but the bit about not hearing of Merchant not so much. Gervais hired him, yeah, but Merchant co-wrote The Office so if Merchant wasn't hired, Gervais wouldn't have The Office and he'd be nowhere near as famous as he is now. They helped each other equally
