That's an incorrect generalization. If you think modern music is impossible to understand and has no meaning then I would say you're listening to the wrong stations. Lyrics..... There's a place where lovers go To cry their troubles away And they call it Lonesome Town Where the broken hearts stay You can buy a dream or two To last you all through the years And the only price you pay Is a heart full of tears [Verse 2] Goin' down to Lonesome town Where the broken hearts stay Goin' down to Lonesome town To cry my troubles away In the town of broken dreams The streets are filled with regret Maybe down in Lonesome Town I can learn to forget (To forget) Maybe down in Lonesome Town I can learn to forget

My wife's cousin, Baker Knight, wrote this song hoping that Elvis would perform it. Elvis recorded other songs by Baker Knight but Ricky Nelson picked it up and got the hit with it. Baker Knight also wrote for Dean Martin, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Sammy Davis Jr, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. There is a long story behind this song. The short version is that he left Alabama where he had a band and some hits to go to Hollywood and make it big. He did not do well in Hollywood at first and thus Lonesome Town was born.

I have seen in this comments that the music is like a time machine who brings us in the past old times. 🙆☺️ Those music like ricky's music is so timeless. I was born in the late 70s but i used in love to listen those music when i was a kid even at this present.

He had the kind of voice that made you want to hold that someone special just a little bit tighter during that slow one. Back in the day couldn't be beat. Brings me back.

Music from the 1950s is still being listened to and appreciated 70 years later... meanwhile music from today will be forgotten in a few years.

Love videos from his early days. The year 1958 was just a year before I was born. I am thankful for reruns and these videos.

I’ve been crying for a good hour now, and it’s over a guy I’m in love with, but I’m so worried about the future. I don’t want him to hurt my heart since it’s been damaged by other people that were family, but damn he treats me the best, and makes me feel like the day is gonna be okay for another day as long as he’s there.

“Lonesome Town”...what a FANTASTIC song! It was common knowledge back in the 50’s that Ricky Nelson was jealous of Elvis (as if he needed to be!). At the time, while in his mid-teens, he was dating a girl who was a BIG Elvis fan. She raved about Elvis all the time! Ricky got tired of hearing her going on and on about Elvis, so he started singing and playing the guitar just to show her that he could do it, too...and do it just as well, I may add!
