What’s good with y’all. “He so strange”. Why, because he’s not a thug from the hood? Because he doesn’t speak in the manner you expect him to speak? Seems like a normal guy who loved football to me.

Too bad he loved weed more than football.
@stz9740
@stz9740 6 жыл бұрын
JEFFREY I think you mean, too bad the NFL are the biggest hypocrites when it comes to weed. Every study shows that alcohol affects your body more negatively than weed. Yet, the NFL endorses alcohol consumption and is partners with alcohol companies. I mean, is it even possible to watch an NFL game today without seeing at least 5 beer logos at some point during the game, and not during the commercials? They endorse alcohol, even though it’s poison for you, and are against weed, even though weed helps them recover from all the strain an NFL player puts their body through. He didn’t, “love weed more than football”. He put his body through intense strain and used weed to recover from it, rather than using opiates which kill over 70,000 Americans per year.

Ricky Williams was the first player that got me into football. The dirty dreads and aggressive running style influenced me back in 2003 as a 9 year old to play football. Had a orange Miami dolphin jersey, it wasn’t until recently I found out how soft spoken and intellectual he was. He was a bit different but we all are, and at the end of the day he was a bad ass running back.

I was going to UT when Ricky made his run. The day that the Sport Illustrated issue with his cover hit the newsstands, I got on the shuttle bus that students rode to campus and there were lots of HOT college girls, all dolled up in short skirts with a copy of the magazine in one hand and a sharpie marker in the other. I overheard their conversations...they were all looking for Ricky to get an autograph and maybe more! When I got to campus it was more of the same. I passed that billboard over the upper deck of I-35 on my way to work every week, it was always awesome to see his yardage increase every monday. I wasn't really much of a football fan when I got to UT, but Ricky and Mack Brown changed all that forever.

Nah that’s SO true. He was THE player who popularized the dreads in football. No argument. At the time, it was actually sort of a big point of contention because he was tackled by the hair at least once, and so some thought he should cut it all off. Fast forward a few years and even though Ricky did shave his head after some time, the rest of the football world would never look back. You could find breads on nearly every single backfield in the county, and many plahers ourisde of the position. Also, while we all know LDT had a huge role in popularizing the visor, it was Ricky that made the visor a THING( even though others had worn it before him. He may have been the first to Tint it). Partly he just made it a thing because he looked SO cool, but also it had a lot to do with him wearing it into an interview in New Orleans and the news that came along with that about his anxiety and how it made him feel a lot more comfortable to be able to hide his face from all of the people and the energy he didn’t love.

I was expecting him to be some crazy wildman. Instead he’s soft spoken, speaks with confidence, valued his education, set his goals and met them!! Took his whole team with him too. It’s bizarre to me he still has this “weirdo” reputation just for having dreads, piercings and smoking weed ahead of his time

Funny Though at the Beggining of the Video is that he didn't Finish His Degree at Texas. He actually ended up Finishing his Degree at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL When he was playing with the Dolphins
