A weld shop I worked at had Electrians come in to wire up some new overhead cranes and some new outlets in the department I worked in. They'd leave the scraps and their trash all over the area, they'd leave for the day leaving me to walk/work through their mess. They even had the audacity to bitch at the plant manager that the area was too cluttered for them to keep working and that he needed to have his workers clean the area. I was the only one working in that department on nightshift, so I "picked up" all the scraps and their trash for them. When they were done and asked where all the scraps went, I told them "probably at the dump by now, since I'm not an electrician I didn't know what was trash or not so it all went in the dumpster. Maybe you should pick up after yourselves." They finished their job and wouldn't take any jobs from us anymore. Plant manager knew what I did and didn't care because he felt the same way. They should've picked up after themselves.

Back when I was in the union. We could keep any scrap copper that was less than 2 foot long. They had these super thick legal boxes on site. I would cut stuff the copper in side one another and fill up the legal box up with every bit I could gather up. Sold my first box for a few hundred dollars. It was a nice bonus on top of my weekly check. Thinking back on the job when I was ordering copper I now understand why they gave me a stink eye when I ordered copper fittings. I had our fitting box filled and stocked far better than anyone other crew. We never ran out of parts and thinking back I could have added bags and bags of fittings that could have walked away. Ordering tools was fun too because they bought these ratchets that broke all the time. Yet all it required was a tiny bit of lock tight on the screw that held the plate on that holds the screw in which keeps the gear in place. When they worked loose they would wobble around and I took around 100 of them and fixed them on the companies time and then sold them to a pawn shop...
