your spot on! I am a 47 year career auto mechanic and EGR is a very poor design /DPF is even worse design. Diesel emmisions can be fixed in so many other ways. EGR and DPF on a diesel engine is ridiculous! The technology of diesel combustion exhaust would be idiotic to reintroduce that byproduct back into combustion chamber! I was driving semi trucks back when these systems became mandatory. Around 2010 or so I remember seeing empty DEF containers overflowing every garbage can and dumpster at the different truck stops. I remember asking similar questions back then. Like how is all the pollution in the manufacturing of def, the transportation of it, the making and disposal of all the plastic jugs and cardboard better than just a clean tune? That was just for diesel exhaust fluid, I wasn't even factoring in everything else you discussed in this video. I was just noticing all the empty def jugs overflowing the dumpsters at almost every truck stop. Granted it's gotten a little better now as the big corporate truck stops have def pumps now. But it still has to be manufactured and hauled all over the country and beyond. This whole subject is a prime example of the solution being worse than the original problem.
