If they start telling you to do more, let them know you'll get started once pay, hours and job responsibilities, have been re-negotiated." @jamesross1602 жыл бұрын
@@hobbyoftheday4017 lol "yes sir". Id tell someone don't call me sir, im not your dad. Best advice is to show up every day, and yes work hard. Showing up is 90% of life, and hard to find anyone that wants to work anymore. After that you just need the experience which takes time.

lol, I know the feeling. I used to work in carpet cleaning and we were always hiring because we were in a college town, and college students always applied because they wanted/needed money. Most of them really struggled accepting that we don't have a safe space. Customers are paying us and inviting us into THEIR safe spaces, their homes. We would often go into literally every bedroom of the house cleaning after their messes. That is a lot of trust customers would be showing us. It also means that if that teenager has a porn magazine flipped open, MSNBC or Fox News is on the television, the customers curses like a sailor or blesses us in the name of God, we would have to accept it all and remain professional throughout. College students really, REALLY struggled being constantly exposed to people's way of lives, and that is even before we got to the really nasty stuff we'd clean up after in extreme cases like hoarders, animal breeders or fast food restaurants.

I remember when I was hired to be a helper for heat treaters, the older guys tried bullying me into quitting. Telling me things like “if you can’t handle this and this then you’re not gonna make it here. Or isn’t there some other line of work you can peruse?” They knew from my uncle that I was born and raised in CA. They assumed I was some weakling like the new guy in this video. I lasted two years with them and I was easily the best helper they’ve had in years. Maybe not the smartest but still out worked ever other helper they’ve had. Maybe don’t be so quick to assume someone is weak just cuz they’re from an unpopular area?? Although, I could see why it was easy to make assumptions of me since they asked me the same questions that Ricky asked the new guy and just like this new guy, I too don’t drink or smoke. Cursing don’t bother me. Family actually rebukes me cuz I’m typically the one cursing too much
@chadg68742 жыл бұрын
I think after a while, people who become like that have been so used to being treated that way that they think it's fair to treat people that way. Man I've been the new guy before although I didn't make any demands on my seniors like the guy in the video did. I tried to play the social game which I suck at to try to get on their good sides. Then I realized that they were mainly testing me to toughen me up, or to see what I was made of. I decided to focus on getting better at my job and then started getting a little more respect. I think that was the lesson.. and now I can mess around a little more and get away with it but still am not pushing back too hard. Some of them are definitely more harsh than others though and not all of them have your best interest in mind when hazing the new guy. Some people are just assholes lol but that's why you let your work speak for itself and the assholes look stupid for messing with you. Anyway just sharing some experiences. It really makes you appreciate a good boss when even if he messes with you when you're new, he sees potential in you and helps you get there too
