Could be worth looking to make your drum kit as a sample chain / sounds in the sound pool for each instrument , that way you’ll use 1 x sample slot per kit , not 8. You can also then swap the source quite easily to cycle through drum kits using lfo for example. Otherwise you’d need to arrange all bass drums together in the list.

sadly digitakt doesnt have slicing as octatrack does, and still couldtn figure out (if its even possible) to zoom on sample when moving sample start.. so its hard to find the correct start
@uhuhmazn6 жыл бұрын
@@dnch Resample the sound and then you can use the more granular sample editor to zoom in and find the right start point. Chopping on the digitakt is more like, breaking the sample into smaller files and then places those samples in the one track using trig conditions. Not a traditional slice, but its definitely doable with a bit of trickery.

Great tip. One question... How would this work from project to project?. I use a “project per song “ approach, don’t know if it’s right. Thanks!
@tameless24944 жыл бұрын
Tahiche, I ran into this issue. Samples are loaded into each project's memory, and the saved pattern only references the slot that samples are loaded into. So if you copy the pattern from one project to another, it will paste the 'pattern' properly, but it won't copy the loaded samples, so each track (drum lane) will be pointing at a sample slot that might not be the correct ones. Copy pasting into a blank project just left my pattern pointing to empty sample slots. A better solution for me was to make Template Projects, where I load a 909 Drum Kit into a blank project, save it & lock it, then make a copy of the entire project when I want to make a song with a 909 kit. Hope this helps!
@tahiche.4 жыл бұрын
Tameless. It does help!. I’m guessing your template project could contain different kits/samples in different patterns, right?. Thanks
@peacefulpigeon72544 жыл бұрын
How do you copy a project? I have tried but got confused be grateful for some tips thanks.
@tameless24944 жыл бұрын
@@tahiche. You can, but I have a single drum kit per template. For example, where Ricky has several drum kits saved in a single project under different patterns, I just have different projects with one kit each. Ricky's is more flexible because it allows you to pick from multiple kits in one pattern, but mine takes up less space. Either way works.

Thanks for the tip Ricky 👌 - is there a way to ensure that your saved ‘kits’ are part of your default project, so that everytime you start a new project, they are there? (Is there a way OTHER than saving a project called ‘Blank Template’ or similar? The downside of such an approach is that it’s *really* easy to overwrite such a file when you go to save a project)

Interesting... hadn’t really thought about this, due to the fact I got the Digitakt before the RYTM. I was working in the opposite direction from most I guess, as sometimes I forget on the rytm that it’ll be the same kit when I go to another pattern, and that changes are across the patterns for the sound.

You talked about bank 16, but there's only 8 banks, right? It's just that bank 8 happens to be accessed through the button labelled "16" (because the eight banks are selected via the bottom row of 8 buttons).

But if you have already sequenced patterns, with other sounds, if you change the "kit" will the sequence stay the same? Eg : I have that cool jamming pattern with 808 sounds, can I with your technique keep that pattern but just change the sounds of it without touching the 8 sequenced tracks?
@RickyTinez6 жыл бұрын
I know I believe it will change the pattern as well. But I have not tested this yet
@robertsyrett19926 жыл бұрын
So basically use 25% of your patterns to make drum kits and then you still have to reconstruct the kit when you change projects, correct? edit: I see you just use bank 16.

good for starting a pattern...useless on an existing pattern. the benefit of KITS were, you could load a new kit onto an existing pattern. this way just wipes what is on the current track. you can do what you did by simply copying a pattern, any pattern, paste onto new pattern an clear trigs to move a groups of sounds "aka kit" around.
@MotifCreosoteWalnut4 жыл бұрын
TRaddcliff Exactly. I’m just getting to know Digitakt and compared to Rytm’s kits this is pretty lame. If I have a bank full of patterns programmed and I decide to tweak the pitch or decay of a sound, I have to do the same tweak individually in each pattern!? Wondering if there’s a workaround to this.
