I am sure the GR can be used for any manner of photography. Just because most buy it for Street does not limit its use to that genre. If you go for a hike and at the same time you want to take some photos, a small camera is a good idea. Perhaps the GR is ideal as it has a large sensor, is small and it is lightweight. With the 28mm equiv. lens it should be a nice option.

I think that’s the whole point people can be put off the camera because it has such a big association with one genre of photography, when in reality it has an all round capability.

Its a great camera for landscape photography ! Get the Nisi Master filter kit and use that with a tripod ; especially around water ! You'll really understand then ! I use the GR2 myself because I feel its more my style and honestly I like its photo quality more. Also, I'm going to wait for an articulating screen and hoping for weather sealing too ! The Ibis would be nice, but why make it a smaller camera ? Everybody mentions they want a viewfinder, but an articulating screen is all I need. I also added the GH-3 adapter and hood to be able to use 49mm filters or to use the Nisi Master filter set. I also have the 21mm conversion lens and the macro conversion lens which gets you much closer than the macro setting. I normally keep the GH-3 on with a UV filter to keep the dust suck down and protect the lens better because I live in a rain forest in the Olympic mountains of Washington . I'm really enjoying your videos and have just subscribed. Thanks for listening and keep it going strong ! LarryMac

Great to hear from you. I love the Ricoh and after 2 years owning it, I really can’t find anything to dislike apart from the confusing ISO settings which can jump around when using the wheel, but that’s probably my incompetence. Thanks for the encouragement.

I often screw up the ISO settings too. I just have gotten in the habit of double checking before shooting. Often I shoot in aperture priority and put ISO in Auto 100-800/100-1600/ or 100-3200 and let camera choose shutter. I use exposure compensation a lot too. Pretty easy camera once you figure out the few quirks ! Regards, LarryMac

@@larrymccormick3226 me too. Aperture priority with exposure compensation. On auto iso exposure compensation won’t work because the Iso dots around with the lighting conditions.

im_ Ansar I agree. If you didn’t know what it was, you would look at it and think it was an expensive point and shoot compact camera.

@@photoexplorer true that, i really love it for my street work

im_ Ansar great for street work and if you are trying to catch reality the camera goes unnoticed.

Surely it's just a camera! People use them for all sorts of things. Yes, it's popular with street photographers. I guess you needed an angle.

The Ricoh Gr is very much a street photography camera and Ricoh promotes street photography exclusively and has even produced a street photography edition. It seemed to be a good idea to show how capable the camera was at being more than just for street photography. No angle was needed, I thought people might be interested to see it out of its usual context.
