Ricoh KR-5 Super II SLR Troubleshooting and Repair.

I have had four KR5 super IIs and it’s a great camera for what it is. The mirror glue is the biggest issue encountered for me. Also, the advance lever is cast metal with two prongs into the spring assembly. I’ve had that break on the most used one in my collection. It rendered the camera inop obviously and fixed it by stick welding the prong and grinding with a dremel. I have the full repair manual from Ricoh and that helped a ton with reassembly. Hello, this is kind of weird since this is from 3 months ago, i got a kr 5 super II and have the same problem with the mirror glue, it slid downwards and it's touching the lense whenever i try to shoot, how do you fix that problem???

@@choripanger I used max strength gorilla glue. It might not be the case, but the original mirror glue seemed rubbery. Like it needed some flexibility for it to stay on. So I used a strong adhesive that wasn’t brittle like super glue. I pulled the mirror off by using a hair dryer to heat it up. Then cleaned the mirror and mounting plate with alcohol and goo gone. Glued it back on with just a rice size dot of glue, and held it in place with a clothes pin lined with a microfiber cloth that I cut up to not scratch the mirror. It’s worked for about a hundred rolls now, so good enough for me. Hope this helps.

what happens if the mirror is already broken, can it still be used without the mirror or does it need to be replaced?

I have a model that has the following issue: advance lever operation makes the curtain go up and down and fire the shot. No idea what could be causing it but if you know I'd love to know

Look forward to using it. Except for the 1/2000 top shutter speed and missing the chosen aperture and shutter speed in the finder it is a plasticky (no pond intended) version of the pentax mx. If you want those features go for the XR 7. Happy shooting.

On the model I have the shutter curtain moves up and down when you action the advance lever. I looked inside the gears but nothing seemed broken or grimy. Not sure what is causing this issue.

You should read a little bit about the camera you try before "Fiddling" the shutter release button is lock by the film advance lever when it os returned all the way you were trying to fire the shutter with the release button locked watching you "Fiddle with a camera you jave no idea how to opperate is very un nerving.
