Lukasz as always explaining stuff beautifully and also providing information I hadn't thought about (the SR off for wanted motion blur solved a problem I always thought I had because I was doing something wrong but I just didn't think about)

I didn't realize it at first either! I tried a few times and though I got worse at panning shots haha. :)

This was a great video! Subscribed! Using Back button AF Lock and hold to prefocus works well in this situation also. You don’t have to keep the shutter half pressed (or even hold the back button) then. It’s also handy whenever you have your eye on a scene and are waiting for someone to walk into it.

Yeah back button focus is great and I use it too, but I just find it tricky when holding the camera with one had, which I am often doing. It might just be my hands or something.

Snap focus panning - do you still half-press? Or just follow the moving object then shutter press?

Thank you for this video. I recently bought a GR III and you are my go-to Lukasz for shooting techniques. I was wondering could you explain the timing of when you actually press the camera shooter in a panning situation. Do you have burst mode or do you actually press at a specific point? Thank you in advance.
@EYExplore3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Great question!! I regret not mentioning burst mode. Actually, I do keep my camera on burst mode these days, but I'm not relying on it for these photos. I try to take only one at the perfect moment, which is the moment when the lens is pointing in the direction exactly perpendicular to the direction of motion. Put more simply, I shoot when the car or bike is in front of me in the crossing, not before or after. Of course, this is hard so sometimes I mistime it!

Using SR at faster shutter speeds does it affect the image?
@EYExplore3 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I hadn't tried. I imagine it would be less pronounced but the effect should still be there.

@@EYExplore Just wondered as I'm getting sharper images with it off compared to on when using faster shutter speeds.
