Listen here! I'm stoked to here other older men are starting to skate again! I started again during covid to get some exercise and recapture something I loved as a kid! I turned 55 in March and am loving every minute of it! I skated parks and pools with a pool board as a teenager and the geometry of today's boards are quite different! I also built a longboard which is so smooth and a great cruiser! Keep skating! 🤙

Just started skating again and I am 47! How big are these Ricta's? I was looking into getting a 60mm or 63 (I think they come in 63) with a 78a hardness. It is Awesome us older guys are getting back into skating! I went out and even bought knee, elbow and wrist guards to protect myself....good thing I did, I had a hard SLAM yesterday.
@spiccolirocks35803 жыл бұрын
@@edo-j1784 It really depends on what kind of board you are going to put them on... I just put a set of 56mm 78a's on a 9×33" popsicle shaped street style board. If you had a park or pool board, probably 60mm wheels! It's all personal preference and truck height and width, risers or no risers so you don't fight with wheel bite and feel comfortable! It's cool that you started skating again! I'm thinking of looking into some protective gear myself! I'm mostly street skating but can't wait to get to a skate park! It's been years! Good luck my man! If you have any questions shoot me a message!

@@spiccolirocks3580 I put together two boards from the ground up. First, a Powell Peralta re issued Steve Caballero "Ban This" deck (9.265 X 32) with Mini Logo 8.75 trucks (biggest mini logo come in I believe) with some re issued G Bone wheels 64mm 97A with Bone Redz RACE bearings. 2nd one, a plain blue stained pop sickle board 8.50 in width, with Indy 149 Hollow 8Baller trucks, re issued Rat Bones wheels 85A and Original Powell Swiss bearings. Both setups are just getting broken in, but I love the Swiss bearings with the Rat Bone wheels. Super fast and worth the money. Just mainly cruising at good amounts of speed for now. I can still ollie, but not high. I want the stickiest wheel I can get that is on the wider side. Thinking of ordering the Ricta Clouds 60mm 78A or the Powell Peralta Clear Cruiser Skateboard Wheels Blue 60mm 80A. Wondering which ones would be best for hills and really gripping the pavement.
@spiccolirocks35803 жыл бұрын
@@edo-j1784 Hey Ed J, If you go with the Ricta's get them without the core. I bought them with the core and they respond more like a street wheel for ollies and tricks! Without the core they are a little more forgiving! And also the larger you go up the wider they get! I put together a 45" longboard with 70mm 78a kryptonics wheels and Atlas 9" trucks! Best street cruiser wheels ever imo, grippy as anything! But I just found out they stopped manufacturing them and the price went through the roof! It's out of control! $1200 for a set, get real! I I've heard Orangatang wheels are supposed to be super grippy! Lmk what you find or are looking for...I might be able to help! Keep Rockin' it!

Thanks for the review! I’ve been looking for a 78A with a park wheel shape. I’ve been riding OJ mini/hot juice 78As on one of my long boards with bones red bearings and they are unbelievably smooth and fast. I recently returned to bowl riding but didn’t like the feel of the 96A OJs on my new board so I was looking hard at these Ricta Clouds. You decided the switch for me! I’m 58 BTW and began skateboarding when I was 11 through 22 years old, then job, marriage family took over., 12, years ago I got into longboards, but I was really missing the transition skating… *It’s not midlife crisis; it’s a new era of older men returning to skateboarding and just being more physically active in general. m a little older than you (47) but i'm in the same boat. haven't skated since I was in middle school. bought a board about a month ago. i initially started with Spitfire 99A/55mm wheels. They worked fine at the skate park. I wasn't dong anything crazy, just getting my legs back. After about 3 weeks on those wheels, I decided to try the OJ's, 87A/54mm wheels. Man, a softer wheel definitely makes a huge difference. I have the 78a clouds in my amazon cart as well. I have them there if i want to experiment with a softer wheel than i have now. For not, the OJ's are definitely an improvement over the hard wheel i had prior to. I won't ever do flips or anything crazy. I'm able to roll in on bowls/ramps, slowly working my way up to doing drop ins. (that's terrifying). But softer wheels are definitely better for us oldies :) i've been seeing a lot of 40+ year old skaters out there. If it's not a midlife crisis, i don;t know what it is. we're coming out of the wood work

Hey tacos and guitar, like everyone else here (and you) I am in the same boat...haven’t skated since early twenties ..( and as you mentioned, I wasn’t that good in my day either...loved rolling around a few ollies, power slides and backside 180°s, but nothing too inspiring) and will be 45 this year. From bringing my kids to the local park that gas a pump track, and tons of separate flat areas for people using roller skates, skateboards and what ever else rolls I have gotten the bug after watching all of the mini cruiser boards rolling around. So I picked up a basic mini cruiser ( not a penny) and started rolling around...off the bat, I loved the smooth ride. Unfortunately after years of abuse on my knees I feel the cruiser setup (60mm with risers and a bit higher trucks) is just a bit too high off the ground which makes kicking off the ground a nit more of a chore ( for what I want to do) ... So I am also into checking out a basic street skate setup with smaller, yet softer wheels.

Rictas are great, but if you're only cruising you need to buy a longboard. There just isn't any point in using a normal skateboard deck and trucks. You can use wheels that are far bigger (65-85mm), wider, shaper lipped for more grip, RKP trucks and much bigger wheelbases for stability. Either a cruiser longboard (a drop through), or a cruiser deck if you want something more nimble and far closer to a skateboard
