It is a neat solution but the problem is the limited capacity of this system compared with a two track metro that can handle up to 60K passengers an hour this sort of solution will struggle to handle 2000 an hour, less than 5 large wide bodied jets.
@petero647128 күн бұрын
This system basically connects a parkinglot for about 5000 cars to terminal 5. So there is no need for 60K/h passengers to and from this parkinglot. Most passengers indeed take the train or underground into London (or somewhere else in the UK) or a connecting flight.
@grahamariss211128 күн бұрын
@petero6471 True, but the problem with this system is that it is very expensive when compared with the alternative with similar 2000 passenger per hour capacity like a bus, but most of all the reason these type of high tech solutions to an already solved problem prove so expensive and short lived is that unlike a bus, tram or train you cannot source replacement from alternative suppliers, you are locked into this one manufacturer for everything for ever and a massive infrastructure cost to opt to an alternative.

@grahamariss211124 күн бұрын
@petero6471 Yes, but if you check the service they offer the out of hours service is covered by a shuttle bus. The issue I assume is the need to have people on hand to safely get people from the pod and track area in the event of a breakdown.
