We just received the Limited Edition Russell Winfield x Ron Lemen Algorhythm into the shop! This is a classic Ride ALGORHYTHM with a lost graphic done by Ron Lemen for Russell Winfield in the early 90's.
We talk to you about how sick the Algorhythm is, and then we talk about how sick it is with a rare graphic on it. This board is one of the best all mountain, ride everywhere, dont check the conditions snow board out there, and we brought in the incredibly biased Nate Blackburn to discuss this snowboard, and how awesome it is.
Head to our website to pick one up for yourself!

I dig your review style and all the info you put out with them. Hoping to see your review of the Berzerker. Look at that and this here Algorhythym.

The berzerker is basically an algorhythm with taper, and more camber in the tail. If you are more of a directional rider, that spends less time switch, and rides less rails, and prefer a board with more bite in the tail and a slightly stiffer flex than a shadowban the berzerker is the way to go. My previous everyday board before the shadowban was the old berzerker that was not tapered. I might get a berzerker next year because I like that board so much, but the taper on the berzerker is more powerful and useful in the allmountain category, but a little less forgiving in the slow speed park riding category. Ultimately a great board the berzerker is, and would be very similar to a shadowban, but it has the camber all the way to the tail, a slightly stiffer tail than a shadowban, a small taper, and a slightly stiffer overall flex which give the berzeker more directional float, a more locked in edge hold, and a snappy powerful pop. I like the waist widths better on the shadowban/algorhythm. The boards have pretty different sidecuts. The berzerker should be ashamed of itself for the waist widths provided in the "wides" that they offer. If the 160 berzerker had a 264mm waist width and the bigger sizes were in the 267mm range I would likely be riding a berzerker. The berzerker has a quicker turning sidecut in the nose and tail, and a wider sidecut underfoot, which helps with stability when the board is not heavily on edge, but when the board is rolled over onto edge, the sidecut really starts to activate and make the board come around quicker, so it has that nice snappy exit out of the carve, and a great initiation. berzerker has roughly a 5 meter sidecut in the nose and tail, and an 8meter sidecut between the bindings. the algorhythm/shadowban has roughly a 9 meter sidecut in the nose and tail, and a 7 meter sidecut between the bindings. This gives the algorhythm/shadowban a more forgiving high speed edge hold, and a more responsive lowspeed agility. I would say that they turn differently for different reasons, but I will say that the algorhythm/shadowban have a more forgiving sidecut that feels more manage-able in tighter steeper terrain for agility and control, and the berzerker has a more responsive sidecut for a better rider who can get the board quickly onto edge, but with slightly less agility because of the 8meter sidecut between the feet. If you are a quality rider you can make both boards turn well the berzerker has more "range" in the types of turn shapes that it can make. I know it seems like some real gear nerd stuff, but the sidecut dimensions between the two boards you asked about are very usable for both riders, but they offer something different. I would say that the algorhythm is probably a solid choice for what you might enjoy based on your desire for a wider board, and a love of the berzerker. If you like the Berzerker and how it turns, stay away from the deepfake or the moderator. Those boards are Stiff Missles with big wide open sidecuts. They really only like to go super fast, and be incredibly stable at those speeds. If I rode Crystal more often and wanted a board to ride that would rip the fabric of space and time apart and still be stable while doing it look at those. They are not playful or forgiving, but I assume when i ride those boards, it has to feel the exact same way that THOR feels when he flys around holding onto the hammer. (mjolnir)

@@MotionBoardshop thanks for the feedback. I went with the Berzerker 163W I found a new last year's model for like $250 less than this year's model. Plus I actually like the graphics better. This board rips! Yeah I almost never ride fakey or go any where near the park. If the trees suck, I'll be doing Mach 1 hot laps down the groomers. :) Needless to say I was stoked on the Berzerker's performance. Just wish it would have been a better year for snow here in the PNW.

@@MotionBoardshopthank you for such a long overview. I'm confused about deepfake as some reviewers say it's an approachable all-mountain-freeride board with playful tips, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

Hi! What union binding would match this board best? I have the stratas on it, they match the stifness of the board but idk something feels off. I would appreciate a suggestion.

Depends on the size of the rider. Personally the strata feels too soft for me at 200+ lbs, if you are above 150 I would say you need a stiffer binding. The Union Force, The Union STR, are great bindings that can provide the drive to power a board like this around. The mini Disc on the strata, the full cushion basepad, and the super soft strap and highback are all great in the park, but it feels like the board gets knocked around when I am off piste, and I definitely go over the handle bars more when I ride the Strata/Ultra especially off piste, and in goopy or thick snow. It is a weight thing admittedly, and all my friends who are below 150 find the Strata/Ultra to be a perfect binding for most boards.

@@MotionBoardshop hey thanks for the answer. I am 140 lbs and my other bindings are atlas on another board. I guess i will just have to ajust and not ride as agressive with those!

Can you compare to burton custom or capita aeronaut? I ride warpig and want 2nd quiver with camber for more agressive ride. All mountain, groomers, side hits, pow, no park

Next year we are carrying the Capita Aeronaut, The Nitro Alternator, and the Ride Moderator. All of these boards are directional camber with rockered noses, they have a little bit of taper, and offer different rides. The aeronaut would be my first choice for you, or the Alternator both boards fulfill that all mountain ride anywhere capability well. I have not ridden a burton board since I broke 3 of them in 1 year back in 2008, with the culmination being a Broken Collarbone due to a catastrophic failure of the Burton T6 that I was riding. I broke 2 Burton Customs and a Burton t6 in 3 months. I have not broken a board since. I assume that they have fixed the problem, but after going through $1800 in snowboards, and a $46,000 clavicle surgery I would say that my opinion of Burton is about biased as they get.

What about the MTN PIG compared to this board?
@MotionBoardshop
@MotionBoardshop 4 ай бұрын
The split tail on the MTN PIg is a turnoff for me personally. I have the old MTN Pig with the solid tail and find it to be a powerhouse, and the new one with the Split tail left me wanting more power out of the tail, and feels like a less awesome Psychocandy, because the front of the board feels stiffer than the back of the board. I would refer to the new MTN Pig as more of a slush pig, as I feel that it doesnt have the same power that I want out of a BIG MOUNTAIN feeling snowboard, but it is still very enjoyable in soft slushy snow and nice powder. When the powder gets chopped up I didnt feel that the tail of the board had the Power, stability, and reliability to allow me to just point it out of conspicuous situations, which is exactly what I would be looking for out of my big mountain board. They are coming out with a board called the Moderator next year which delivers all the things that the old MOUNTAIN PIG had to offer.

Thank you so much for the response! Way off but I ended up going with the K2 Passport as a less aggressive daily driver and hopefully more playful board. Let’s see how it goes 😬 May consider a Ride board in the future
