The point about not leaning into the mountain Is incredibly important. The further back you lean, the longer you take to transition from edge to edge and the more speed you gain. Additionally you're in a less reactive position and you're more susceptible to chattering out. I've found bending my legs and leaning forward to commit to the turns has greatly improved my steep riding technique

Thank you very much. I like it. Now, let me add that I don't think you should spend a lot of energy on attempts to clear tricky situations by going up. Going down oftenly is the only solution, it may require a rope. There's a point of no return. I think you better accept this when you start. It should be clear that brown stripes in your pants are not always avoidable, sometimes one has tzhe urgent wish to call the family to say a last goodbye. It can become highly intense. One may also stress a bit more that one always should search for points of shelter. Those stops could be used for reoptimization of the line depending on the conditions. I mean, I'm not a professional, but that's what I do. Having said this, let me stress again that your vids are great. Given the topic it is almost unavoidable that different people would place a higher weight on some topics. Continue with the great work, please. Enjoy nature. Have fun.

Love these tips! A few questions, what's your stiffness rating on hour boards and the sidecut radius?
@XVDLR
@XVDLR Жыл бұрын
Hi It is towards the stiffer end in the XV board and for example the 162cm XV has a Radius of 8.4cm - you can find all the info here: www.rossignol.com/ch-fr/snowboard-homme-xv-RELWP08000.html Hope that helps. XV

Great video! Have you ever been injured? I used to feel comfortable free-riding light backcountry, double black diamonds, etc. However, last year I broke my ankle and tibia on a steep mogul run because my back tip got stuck, and I twisted my leg pretty badly. It required surgery with plates and screws. It was my first serious injury riding, and ever since then I've had a mental block at the mountain!
@XVDLR
@XVDLR 3 жыл бұрын
I have been lucky on that front with not too many injuries but they do block you if you dont get back on the horse asap… So my advise, get back into it, go back to the same style of terrain and make sure you overcome the fear that you have built up. It will come and you'll be feeling good, it will just take a bit of time.

I had my achilles tendon torn in steep terrain. I was scared to go down steep slopes the season after that injury but I built up my confidence and after 2 seasons I got back as I was before. edit: my "seasons" are only 2 weeks/year

@@youarewrongdevil1296 That's great encouragement, thank you so much! I started slowly this season, but you're absolutely right- it helps to to build up little by little until you're back to the original terrain!

Love the videos - your boarding is inspirational!! Thank you. Any advice for what to do should you find yourself falling on a steep? Not sure there is much a person can do, but was thinking there may be a way to fall to prevent 'tomahawking' down, or maybe to minimizing it. Thanks man!
@XVDLR
@XVDLR 4 жыл бұрын
there isnt a technique, and it will depend a lot on the snow quality. if its hard you won't have an option but what's for sure is that on a snowboard if you time your abs well you can stop your self tomahawking a lot easier than on skis

Hey Xavier, very nice chanel! i have a question ... what TNF pants do you wear during Splitboarding? Futurelight BIB pants like Brigandine or Purist? Isn't very warm during the way up with a BIB pant?

Hey, I think you are talking about my ABS handle - so it is the trigger you pull if you are in an avalanche to inflate the ABS system - you can find out more about the backpacks on their website: abs-airbag.com/en/wintercheck.html and it shows you a bit more how they work. Hope that is helpful. Have a good winter. Xv
