Great memories of Ride studying at North Oxfordshire college when they formed. Remember the buzz around them from being so local. Can still remember buying the first EP on vinyl from my local independent record store. Happy days

Thanks for not using the nauseatingly trite “underrated.”

@@user-ks3ex3ml6x That’s rather presumptuous on your part. I’m not pretending to be anything, and surely not “elite.” My comment was meant as a compliment, as the aforementioned quip completely lacks originality and is often thrown around masquerading itself as “interesting thoughts.” I like the song just fine.

Floating like a smoke ring, It cannot be regained, Now it's touched, it's broken, The taste just slips away. The taste just slips away. I just want to know. I don't want to tell you, What you want to know, I don't want to tell you. As hard as right can be, It can feel so wrong, Too much to leave, Now it's all gone wrong. But what's right or wrong? I don't know. The taste just slips away

This songs is perfect. There is absolutely nothing you can do to make it better. RIDE were the greate3st of their generation and bands like Oasis owe them everything. It is just a pity that they imploded. It especially pains me to see an artist like Andy Bell, tagging onto Liam Gallagher, who has never produced anything even as good as the Revolver, the sub-standard Swansong of this mighty band...

@mathew1t Absolutely right. A couple of decades on and this song (and in fact pretty much all of the "Nowhere" album) still - still! gives me goosebumps. I listen to it when I go flying all the time. I've also felt that if "Tarantula" isn't too bad an album taken on its own merits, it's just that it suffers in comparison to the heights that Ride reached earlier. It may be a substandard Ride album, but it's better that Oasis' best.

@TheAlistairDick it's not that all easy... in 1996 Ride was goin' straight in the wall commercially and even more artistically... it's better to split than doin' horrible albums with half of the band who don't talk to the other half... even Hurricane n1 is not worst than a lot of Ride material... I'm not an ultimate Ride fan...i think just they were a good band...i have their 2 first albums and my fave is their 2nd...

????? You what! Both bands were formed in 1988 and released their debut albums in 1990. A prominent feature of the Charlatans sound was a Hammond organ while Ride were predominantly guitar based.
