Even though it was extremely hot on that ride, it was still fantastic. The new XPeak is a real winner. A few upgrade like wider handlebars with a rise for better rider position, a more comfortable seat with seatpost suspension with put the XPeak in to a whole new category of fantstic.

@@davidsammataro they were all done at Lectric headquarters because that’s where we were invited to to see bikes that are not even out yet and no one gets paid. Thanks Gary for letting me know that the motor on Version 2 is the same as on Version 1. For me that is bad news. I was hoping they would upgrade the motor. I went through some hardships with the 1st version of this bike. On long uphill climbs in mountainous terrain, the bike would suddenly quit on me. I tried to troubleshoot it with Lectric. We replaced the rear wheel and controller but still had the problem. Finally, Lectric concluded that the bike was operating normally . . . it's just that I was pushing the bike too hard. Apparently the motor was overheating and quitting . . . although there was never any "hot" message on the display. I like Lectric, and I like this bike. I think it is a great value and I wish Lectric success on Version 2. For most riders this bike would be fine. But if you ride long distances in challenging uphill terrain, be aware that the motor may eventually quit on you. After it cools a bit it will start again . . . but then quit again minutes later. I finally just turn around downhill when that happens, and give up on my ride. If you are a serious mountain biker I would recommend consulting Lectric to determine if Version 2 of the xPeak is a good fit for your typical terrain. (Note: I weigh 200 lbs and carry maybe 50 lbs with me.)

Hey Gary, there are a few problems with these types of bikes! The first one is that you can't straighten your legs entirely (if the rider is tall because they offering one size), which is bad, really really bad because your knees experience pressure in a way they are not designed for (and mechanically inefficient), especially since you already have a knee problem (a bike fitter for example from the company SQlab or doctor for sports medicine can tell you a thing or two about that), the second reason the legality ( or lack legality) in a lot of countries (especially in Europe) and the third reason is the saddle, you mentioned that the saddle is soft which is actually really bad because it puts pressure on the area where a lot of nerves and blood vessels run through (Perineum = the area between genitals and anus). You did not mention the real-world range (the advertised range is widely overestimated in most cases), especially for heavier riders like me (90kg with backpack), most people are not as light as a feather like you. Question: Are hub-driven Bikes are still less efficient (especially uphill) than middle motorbikes? If so, why are hub-driven motors still so popular? Cheers
@GarysE-BikeAdventures2 ай бұрын
@@StereodreieckRC adding different size frames, cause the price to go up. This is a budget bike but a very well equipped one. Battery range relies on a whole bunch of factors. I never try to get into it where I live. I probably have the worst battery range. If they say there’s a 70 mile range on the battery. I usually get 20 miles as far as hub drive in mid drive mid drives a better for slower low end torque Hub drives are better if you’re going to be driving faster. People in the United States love to drive fast.
@StereodreieckRC2 ай бұрын
@@GarysE-BikeAdventures, "Adding different-size frames will raise the price. This is a budget bike but a very well-equipped one." But it would appeal to a new consumer group the the bikecompany (generally speaking), those who are either too tall or too small. "If they say there’s a 70 mile range on the battery. I usually get 20 miles as far as hub drive in mid drive mid drives a better for slower low end torque Hub drives are better if you’re going to be driving faster. People in the United States love to drive fast." 20 miles, at what average speed? Besides that, 20 miles is barely enough for my commute, which means I have to charge every single day after work, which is not acceptable at all. The argument that hubmotors are more efficient is not true, just marketing BlaBla (which a lot of people believe without questioning), the reason hobdrives are more popular is the lower price, less engineering to accommodate the motor and consequently more sold units (for the companies) and lower maintenance for the customer. At the end of the video you said that you ended up with 26miles. How much battery was left? Are you going to review more expensive bikes? Would love to see traditional E-Bike like the Canyon Neuron ON on the Show. Cheers NIk

@ so I live in a extremely hilly area if I’m not going up the hill. I’m going down a hill so I do chew up battery I ride probably at my average is about 20 miles an hour. I can hit 37 going downhill I weigh about 195 pounds. And ride usually in pas 3 I am currently riding in Weather that is 20 to 45° which is also cutting into the battery life. Like I said there’s a lot of factors in trying to figure out how many miles you’re going to get out of a battery. I presently own 22 bikes and trikes the only mid drive, single trail full suspension mountain bike I own is a cyber bike companies like Cannondale trek. Don’t want to give away bikes and I’m certainly spending 5 to 15 Grand to review a bike. I might spend five grand on one if it was a Pinion Drive I actually do have one pinion drive bike and I love riding it I have like 240 videos out there. Many different bikes. I also do a ride every Saturday. So subscribe to my channel and check it out and by the way, thanks for watching.
