RIDE THE RAILS
www.dynamicstr...
In this boxing training video. Teddy Atlas teaches how to ride the rails.
Teddy Atlas is one of the most renowned boxing trainers in history. This is an excerpt from his newest series TIMING: BOXING'S SHOT CLOCK available from DynamicStriking.com.
Dynamic Striking was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your striking skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for students interested in striking who don’t look at mixed martial arts as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

Definitely! The opponent could feint the jab, then boom, they either clock you with a right uppercut, rib, hook, or overhand. But if riding the rail is successful then it'd be a devastating blow for sure.

Def a high risk move bc a right uppercut or hook from opponent would kill you
@PhoenixProdLLC
@PhoenixProdLLC 3 жыл бұрын
Seems a very effecient economy of motion. Q: if you miss with your right aren't you open to his right hand to your head pretty quick?? If you miss what's the next best punch/move? An uppercut/hook or get out of Dodge entirely?
@tomas6983
@tomas6983 3 жыл бұрын
when you throw the punch you move your head to the left, outside his shoulder so he can't hit you with the right. But most important is confidence in your technique, there can't be any hesitation, or else you shouldn't even try it.

As a longer, taller striker I hate when compact guys use this on me. Great knowledge from mr Atlas.

I'm 5'9 1/2, so I'm not real tall. When I fight a taller guy, in get in, give him the top of my head and go to work...😊

I'm 6' and my dad is 5'7". He tore me up with his 1-2 combo from this. He used the peek-a-boo style and was quick AF.

@@sethking524 we regularly sparred and wrestled. His dad trained boxers and he had 2 brothers he sparred with. He had an 11 second pin in the early sixties in Michigan. It was a record for his weight class. "Center of Gravity, son." Getting old is killing him, lol! 🥰😅

I ride the rails on my own punches when I do my 1 and a 3 to the body in one motion. my coach showed me how to do it and many of my switches ride that momentum. im not great at it at all but the few times I have gotten it to work, its very great.

Your strike cant miss from that distance. In theory if he fakes you still connect with your cross and gtfo instead

@PogChamp yes I know. But I pointed that out because I always like to slip the jab to the outside of my opponent to avoid his rear hand
@randalorian9
@randalorian9 3 жыл бұрын
You should be off the centerline anyway when you slip to the left. I like to use Coach Anthony's "frames" concept when thinking about these types of things. But as with anything else, there's no indefensible technique - everything has it's flaw or weakness. It's all in how you apply your technique and concepts. This likely isn't something you try to employ right at the opening bell, but after you've made a read or two on your opponent.

It is good, but is risky. If your opponent has sussed your style you’ll eat a belter of a right hand trying to delivers yours.
