@truelife9743 жыл бұрын
Because there wasn't. GA 400 was supposed to serve as an express bus route like GA 166. The north line was constructed instead out of nowhere and done rather quickly. I still wonder to this day why GA 166 didn't get and isn't planning for the same treatment.

Interestingly, there *are* visible provisions at 19:38 for the never-built Northwest line which would have branched off between Arts Center and Lindbergh Center stations! (Current as of 2023: you can still see it riding on MARTA's Red/Gold lines. Southbound from Lindbergh Center/northbound from Arts Center, you can see the tunnel approach/diverge from you prior to the train exiting/entering the underground portion of its run. It's a bit hard to describe, but if you're in ATL you'll know it when you see it, especially if you've seen this video.)

Slow due to balancing the shorter distance traveled at the time against the frequency. As the terminus of the north and south lines were extended the speed (of the same trains) increased. Also, the spontaneous creation of the north line impacted the speed and frequency as well. Once upon a time the terminus of the south line was West End.
