Just got a zero and i'm hyped to ride it in a couple days. I got a zero 161w cause I wanted a few more CMs in length than my favorite board, a '21 huck knife pro 158W (biggest size they make). I love the huck knife and the huck knife pro, I think the pro is just barely stiffer than the standard huck knife and almost identical to it overall in terms of feel... I know you've ridden a huck knife, how would you compare the huck knife to the zero? I'm just curious, which would you say you liked better and why? Love your straight forward reviews and videos. Thank you!
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
It's been ages since I have ridden the Huck Knife, but it did have a grippier (in terms of edge hold) feel, and a more springy and lively feel, especially at the start. Once it was broken it that all got reduced quite a bit, and it felt really soft. I've been on the Zero long enough now, and it hasn't really changed too much, other than getting a bit softer. The Zero has a damper feel, turns really nicely, and still does everything else pretty well. It might be because it is my new board, but I do like it more than the Huck Knife - I think you'll be nicely surprised at how it rides.

Hey, finding your reviews helpful man. What do you reckon of the zero vs the never summer protoslinger? How did you find skidding turns on the zero? is the camber pretty mellow?
@endlesscruz7 ай бұрын
Not sure if you have tried the Rome Party Mod but how do you think it compares to this Ride Zero? For a midwest rider, decent rider (15 years riding) 9.5 boots 175lbs mainly hitting 40% rails, 20% jumps, 40% bombing down the hill, or finding trees to ride through and rock drops. Any thoughts on which might be a better fit? Also, which one you think has more pop?

Nice review! I have pretty much the same gear as yours. I have cartel, mercury, also looking for a more playful board just get zero, wondering whats your mercury length? Mine is 158, and just get a zero with 157w, would you recommend 155 over 157w?
@SnowboardRobot Жыл бұрын
Thanks! my Mercury is 157, I got it a tiny bit longer than what I normally ride to help a bit in softer snow/all mountain stuff. I went back to normal 155 with my Zero, but it all depends on your weight and if you want to trade off a little stability to make it easier to move around.

Hey dude, loving these reviews. Recently got the aeronaut partly down to your review. Absolutely live it, super quick, turns great and loads of pop! looking to add a more playful board to the quiver next season and wanting something that is easier to mess around and butter on but still has good pop and carves decently. Considering this and the yes greats, maybe the jackpot?... How would you sum up the differences between those three? Any others I should consider?? Cheers bro!
@SnowboardRobot7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the Jackpot and Greats would be good, all three do seem pretty light overall. They are pretty interchangable, you could go for the Jackpot if you want something more standard/classic, or the Greats if you want the extra width which will probably help with the carving. As another option, the Huck Knife kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYusaJuohLxrhLM will do all that super well too. If you want super fun and easy to butter, the Bataleon Wallie kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqObiWRjpaaWj7s . At least with the Wallie there is zero crossover with the boards, it is definitely a lot more playful. Won't carve as well as the others, but it is still possible.

Thanks for the review. If you wanted a board softer than the mercury, why not the DOA? Thanks!

The DOA is too soft for me once it breaks in, and if I am going to get a twin, might as well be asym.

Hey good review and style. I have the 2020 Warpig and like it a lot for general mountain riding and doing easy jumps in sidehits and such. How would you compare the warpig with this one? I assume it is not volume shifted so it’s more of a regular lenght but I hope you can tell me how it feels. Thanks
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it isn't volume shifted like the Warpig, just a regular width, but it does have the asym sidecut. The Zero turn quicker, has better edge hold and a more lively feel on small jumps and sidehits. For me it is a much nicer board than the Warpig.
@TommyTermens2 жыл бұрын
@@SnowboardRobot good to hear. If I am not wrong you usually have the Mercury for your own riding. You have also tested the Capita Asymulator so how these 2 compare to the Ride Zero? The last one that I will bother you with is the Ride Algorythm, have you tried it? Thanks a bunch!
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
@@TommyTermens The Mercury is a big step up from the Zero - much faster and stiffer all around, so I find it is harder work to ride in the park, but does great everywhere else. The Asymulator and Zero are pretty similar overall, the Asymulator might have felt the tiniest bit lighter, but the Zero has a damper overall feel. Can't go wrong with either though really. I haven't been on the Algorythm yet, but it does look like something I would like.

Thanks for the review, was just considering buying this board! How would you compare it to the Burton Kilroy twin that you rode?
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
The Zero Feels a bit lighter, and a bit faster, other than that they a fairly similar overall.

@@SnowboardRobot perfect thanks man! So would you just say just grab whichever I can get a better deal on?
@holeblocker2 жыл бұрын
I have similar riding preferences to you (I think). Mostly all-mtn/freeride, and have a Jones Flagship for that. A little bit of park, but want to get more into freestyle and ride switch better. Do you personally prefer the Zero or the Yes Greats? Both seem similar, with the Greats being a bit stiffer.
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
Both are pretty good, though I would say the Zero feels a bit damper, while the Greats is a bit lighter an snappier. I can't really complain about the Zero at all, though if you were looking at Yes boards for more freestyle I would look at the Jackpot over the Greats - quicker and smoother to turn being a bit narrower.

How is the zero for a dedicated jib and small/medium jump board?

Pretty good - that sort of riding is exactly why I bought it actually. It struggles at speed for all mountain riding, but it is great in the park.

@SnowboardRobot Жыл бұрын
Yep the Zero will be a good step up for you, it is a great park board. It won't do especially well in powder, but that is because it is a twin, but no park boards are going to be super good in powder anyway.

Oh nice, I've actually owned all of those boards, that doesn't happen too often. They are all good, you can't go wrong with any of them, but I do like the Zero the most, maybe because it is new, but I also like the asym sidecut, it does make regular turns feel a bit nicer.

I don't know why they keep calling "hybrid camber" to the normal camber, saying "with rocker at the nose and the tail", like if it was something special. Of course it has rocker at the nose and the tail. More or less distance between contact points, or more or less early rise of the rocker, doesn't make it "hybrid". Never Summer or Lib Tech, that's hybrid camber.
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
Although technically I get that any combination of camber and rocker is a hybrid, I agree with you and I would call anything with rocker between the feet and camber outside a hybrid.

Yeah with the rocker on the nose and tail, it will be easy enough to ride as a first board, but isn't too soft so you won't grow out of it like you might on a full beginner board.

Thanks! It's fine as a daily driver, though I found it is a bit soft for steeper/harder riding. Groomers and side hits were really nice, but I would go for something stiffer if you really like to ride fast.
