I’ve had my 700 Series for nearly 5,000 miles, and to be honest, the negatives you bring up are true, but in reality they are so MINOR that they are barely worth noting. The acceleration noise you demonstrated is full throttle, so yes, a bike with a powerful motor will produce some whirring noise at full power, but you would seldom have the need to go full throttle. The braking noise seems excessive on your bike. I would check into new pads. Mine are virtually quiet, even when braking forcefully. The 700 Series is a quality bike with incredible power and range. I love mine, and I use it for 25-30 mile trips several times a week. After a 30 mile trip, I normally have 60 percent remaining on my battery. Incredible!

Nice review young man. I listened carefully as an owner of an Aventon Level 1 with a cadence sensor and 4200 miles. In my never ending research of e-bikes, especially commuters, I was initially intrigued by this bike as a future replacement or addition. I am wedded to cadence sensing over torque with very little experience with torques so I know the Level 2 will never cut it for me. Here are my comments of the Level 1: Brakes are great, but the front one is loud like yours, but the rear is absolutely silent and is my main brake anyway. The rear pads have been replaced once as I got Slime on them. The dealer replaced them. I have a local dealer that performs warranty and service for the 2 year warranty. They provide 2 free adjustments the first year. The motor is not overly loud and doesn’t bug me at all. The left thumb throttle provides instant response. Pedaling also provides almost instant response and I believe that is controllable in the settings. I would hate to have to move the pedals more than I do now to have the power kick in. My range with a full charge and throttle usage confined to starts at dead stop and mostly using PAS 2 and 3 on paved, mostly level roads will give me 40 miles. I’d be happy with 35 for my suburban usage. I ride it every day because the weather allows that here in Arizona. I paid 1899.00 for it in April of 2022. I’m now 70 yrs old and weigh 170 lbs. These are essentially very similar machines, but given the warranty of 2 yrs and fully assembled by a competent authorize dealer I’ve got to give the edge to the Level. The stock seat is fine unless I’m on a long ride and I can easily deal with slight discomfort toward the end of those long ones. The Level 2 with the torque sensor does provide front and rear lights, I did have to spring for those separately for Level 1 but no big deal and outputs are quite good.

I love the unpaid honest review. Hopefully I'll have mine soon Fedex lost it for a week. I originally was going to put an mid-drive kit on my Pitch 27.5 but the price and added features over my potential donor bike swayed me and since this is my first ebike a hub motor will do fine for now. I subscribed and hope you continue to update us on your bike.

Dare I say the leathers in the background gave me faith in your review before viewing? Albeit a little clean, but that's a good thing! Your comments show you value accurate, crisp, and predictable output from your control inputs. Me too. Great video and good insight. I'm buying. Seems like a good bike for me. Thanks....N

Kacper, What an excellent review You did of the e-bike. I have a Ride1Up 700 ST, that I purchased in March, and everything You mentioned is exactly what I have experienced on mine. I have nearly 1,000 miles, and am just starting to experience that clicking sound that appears to be coming from the pedals or crank. I also totally agree with your evaluation of the bike, and it's good and and it's not so good features. Bottom line, I love my 700 ST. It's not perfect, but I love it, and didn't spend a fortune for it.

That was a very useful review. Reviewers often act like salespeople. I'm on my bike every day. I think I know now exactly what the 700 would do (and not do) for me. Thanks. I'm riding a Giant explore on top assist for 3 years -4,000+ miles. and only pumping the tires and lubing the chain.It's dead silent and bullet proof. I want built in lights and 28mph.

This is one of the best reviews I've found so far for the 700! Very thorough and I love that you don't mince words when it comes to criticisms. It's good to know that customer service can be challenging to work with depending on the issue, that's important information. It makes your positive feedback seem that much more genuine (as opposed to ebike reviews with 200k views who have only positive things to say but sound like they are reading ad copy straight from the manufacturer... and may well have been paid for the video). I appreciate that you've actually put a lot of miles on the bike and clearly do a lot of riding, so your experience and opinion is valuable. I'm definitely subscribing. Probably going to go ahead and make the purchase based on this, thanks a ton!

I was really interested in getting this bike but your customer service experience has caused me to start looking at other bikes. All I can think about is what if that happens to me. Dishing. That is the process of building or truing of wheels so that the rim is centered between the dropouts. I have found with e-bikes that the front wheel is nearly always dished correctly, although that is simpler... But for some reason ebike rear wheels are often not dished correctly. Dishing involves loosening the spokes that are attached to one hub flange while simultaneously tightening the spokes that are attached to the other hub flange, effectively moving the rim towards the side with the tighter spokes. Oh... and Busch & Müller make some really good e-bike headlights. It depends on how much you really need the kidney you will have to sell to afford one, but they are quite nice. They are one of the few lighting companies that will show actual photographs of beam patterns, which most bike lighting manufacturers tend to avoid showing, for good reason.

Really good and credible review. It makes me think a little longer if I should get this one. I think you said you weigh 168 pounds as a rider. I am well into my 200 PDS, so when I consider your experience with the bike's performance I am sure weight will impact all the metrics you state. Which for me, would be a slower bike, a less responsive bike, and fewer miles on a ride. I can't say how enough you were clear, concise and gave clear examples of your experiences. Many thanks

Thanks for the comment! In the 2100+ miles that I have put on the bike so far I have never ran out of battery on a single ride, so I don't think that should be a concern for you. And if you're worried about performance, I saw that the Limited model is on sale for the same price as the 700 currently, and it has a considerably stronger motor.

By far the best review ever. I never trust the "50 miles and I couldn't be happier" stuff. Heck, everyone's happy with the New Toy when it's right out of the box. 1500 miles is a very good STARTING POINT for a commuter vehicle. I'm one of those people who has just cracked that 50 mile mark on a 700XR... not saying anything yet, except I ditched the cheap saddle and pedals the first ten minutes and put on my trusty Brooks B-67 and an old set of platforms from 1982 that are rebuildable and still good. I think the noise is pretty typical of hub motors and the fenders are hardened alumnum - pretty good quality in fact. Hardened alloy will clang. It's a utility bike. If you ride on gravel paths, they will catch small stones and run them up over the tire. It's noisy. My bike is as quiet as a mouse on the streets compared to the traffic going by. So far, the brakes are typical re noise. Maybe, like yours, they'll get noisy later or get soft. About that throttle delay: Ride1Up has a video on the computer unit, and how to make adjustments. I believe - and I might be wrong - that you can adjust the "sensitivity" level for the throttle timed reponse. I nknow the feeling you're referrig to, and I'll likley get around to that pretty soon. Good to know that your issues were resolved off the shelf. My concern is that there will be no support for anything sparky that goes T.U. Of all the reviews, the only negatives have been customer service and response issues from Ride1Up, not necessarily about the bike. Hope they get handle on that or they'll go back to selling skate boards as others perfect their market strategy. Thank you for showing the parts/tools you ordered to fix that BB. Video SAVED.

After 2 weeks of riding, Yes the brakes are noisy and the front breaks feel weaker. Ordered new pads as well. Im 6'3 231 lbs the Bike has great range on PAS 2 and 3. My throttle is very reactive. It can get up to speed 26mph on throttle and 30mph with a steady pedal. I had a flat the first week unfortunately. Tire slime fixed it.

Great Review ! I purchased the 700st about a month ago. Pretty good price for the features and components it has compared to many others for the same price. Some people have had slight issues such as you mentioned including out of true rims that just needed spoke adjustments. Overall it's a great bike for me. I do have that slight "jumping" in the front pedals just as you mentioned. It's not there all the time but enough for me to notice it. Thanks for posting the amazon picture of the bottom bracket you replaced yours with. That will be my winter project to replace it. And the spline tool ! I have the crank arm tool and should have bought the bottom bracket spline tool but wasn't 100% sure which one to get. Thanks for the video.... Follow up. Just looked at that bottom bracket on Amazon. What size fits the 700st ?
@kacpertokarz9295
@kacpertokarz9295 2 жыл бұрын
The stock bottom bracket is 73x127.5mm The one I got was 73x127 but it was ever so slightly bigger and the cadence sensor didn't want to fit around it so I had to sand down maybe a millimeter on the cadence sensor and it fit perfectly after that.

Nice review! - When you throttle, are you pedaling as well? Throttle should be instant. - Under Advanced settings, what is your sensitivity set to? Make sure it is at 1. - The bottom bracket creak is likely fixed w/ grease. Replacing works too, but usually those type of creaks means some grease is required. - With the bike tilting a certain direction; Wheels are dished, are you sure it's at a different angle? That would be unusual to say the least. Sometimes other factors cause the steering to be off.
@kacpertokarz9295
@kacpertokarz9295 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If I'm pedaling then yes, the throttle response is instant. But if I'm riding around using throttle only then the delay occurs. I already set the sensitivity to 1 and it made a really big difference in how quickly the motor reacts to pedaling but it didn't do much for the throttle. And yes I'm sure about the wheel. I measured the distance from the rear wheel to the side of the frame on both sides and it was significantly less on one side. I wanted to include a clip of this in the video but it was difficult to get a good angle of it.

If you ever decide to get another battery put some thought into it before shelling $480 from ride1up. Theres oodles of the reention rhinos overseas. You can get some batteries that will give you some range. The models after mar 2022 use the reention rhino IR-7 that is 441mm long where the previous was IR-5 that is 362.5mm long. A 7 won't fit it a 5. If you have a 5 your stuck with it maxing out at 14ah. The IR7 gives more options. Ride1up chose 29 21700 cells maxing out the 48v capacity in the 21700 setup. However there are 18650 options for the IR7. There is a 48v 17.5ah and a 52v 17.5ah in 18650 form. You need to pull out your controller to see if it can do 52v and you'll need a 58v charger. If the controller is up to the task a 52v 17.5ah will get you in the 900's for range The Bafang will surely take 52v. Theres always the 48v 17.5ah if you want to play it safe. You can find these batteries online if you do a search. Theres also the reention IR-21700. I dont't know why ride1up didn't choose this. Otherwise they would have a 48v 20ah monster. I guess they couldn't, because the frame would have to be redesigned and widened. The IR21700 is a tad bit wider than the IR7 and will not fit in an IR7 socket. So if you are looking for another battery. Check out Ali Express or something and look at the IR-7 options. They're out there, just have to search for them.
