I just bought a Gazelle Avignon. It was almost double the price. The Prodigy V2 as configured in the Video is great value.

Great review Mike by watching your reviews I’m thinking of e-bikes now to get around I recently lost my right leg. I have a prosthetic and so I can’t drive a car anymore so I think I’m going to go with these type of transportation, back-and-forth to the stores and stuff.

For you though, you may want to consider the LMTD (torque sensor) or 700. Simply because they have a throttle, which I imagine would be handy to have for you when starting up.
@evan1kx12510 ай бұрын
My dad has a lmtd xr its a very tall bike compared to this bike and the wheels are the week spot especially with the hub motor, they also come with spokes that are all bent slightly "like the nipples need to be angled but they aren't" Moms turris is same way. Spokes seem a bit loose and needed to be trued right away as they had more then 1/2in side to side wobble
@pddellow10 ай бұрын
@@evan1kx125 Hmmm I am 5'6" and have the LMTD XR, fits me perfectly.. seems about the same as the Turris as far as sizing. The big difference is the torque sensor vs. cadence. Fantastic bike!

What a package. I agree I would go with the belt drive!
@orson347 Жыл бұрын
I owned one of these and found that it was chunky feeling and I also found that the Enviola transmission was just not what I had hoped and realized that I should have gone with the chain drive. I will say that the customer service from Ride1Up was incredible and they allowed me to return the bike. For the money, I think that the Limited is one heck of a better deal all around.

What about the belt drive + cvt did you dislike? Haven't used one yet so living/learning vicariously, lol
@evan1kx12510 ай бұрын
I went 9speed and like it! Did it not have low enough gearing for trails? Thats what i thought and went for the 9speed, but never tried the cvt, seemed like the cvt is more for rd riding

NICE! I don't understand the choice of bike comparisons. The only bike I can think of that competes with this directly is the Priority Current. I hope this will force Priority into some upgrades or a price drop on the Current.
@evan1kx12510 ай бұрын
Specialized turbo vado 3.0 and higher is very close, its 29er though with alot better components, way better cable routing ex.. but its like $5k usd so i bought this instead. So far im fairly happy, but at 1000miles plus i might be saying differently, just cant see spending that much $ on a pedel bike i use a few times a week
@michaelsprinzeles402210 ай бұрын
@@evan1kx125 I should have specified that, IMO, to compete directly prices must be similar. No LBS brand name e-bikes qualify to compete in this category, on price basis alone. Those bikes may have slightly better components, but for the price they should. I think you made a wise choice. You got into e-bikes relatively affordably & if you like your ride you can always ride the components until worn & upgrade to whatever components you like.
@davidshuck88304 ай бұрын
I have the Priority Current, thanks to this channel, and this is an interesting option for a second bike. Likes price, metal fenders, front shocks, rack light, colors. Cons cables visible, battery size, battery cover, front skewer axle. Still on the fence with this choice.

I deeply appreciate your ebike reviews, especially this one. I didn't even know that bicycles had CVT transmissions. This looks like a really remarkable bicycle to me. I'd love to understand better how you get the lower range just for climbing hills because I live in the Hill country in Texas.

I'm honestly bummed with the V2. I bought one of the last V1's on sale last year, in the now discontinued XC flavor. It has the same motor, but a 120mm fork and weighs 8 pounds less. I upgraded the transmission from stock and now have a relatively affordable hard-tail XC e-mtb that absolutely rips! It's so damn fun, I can't even tell you. You can't do that will the V2 without replacing the fork, making it not financially viable (just buy a stock e-mtb at that point) and then it will still be too heavy. At least I got mine! If you can find a V1 Prodigy XC for sale though, I highly recommend grabbing one and throwing a high range on there, it's a blast!

I just got this bike last month, riden about 40miles so far mostly on boost/sport modes in a hilly area, i went for the 9speed instead of cvt as i ride alot of trails in between roads it shifts perfectly! so far im happy with it, i already swapped to a 20mm shorter stem, wider bars, dropper post, skinnier seat, clipless pedals. Getting about 18-20miles on boost in colder weather im sure on tour i could get 30+. Fork feels good, agreed on the axles and spoke mounted speed sensor and some cheaper components, but for price"2400usd" i cait complain, my average speed is usually 18-20mph so its a pretty fast bike for knobby tires. Its getting me on my bike more which is always a plus! I pulled the trigger because i love the lines of the frame"reminds me of a dirtjumper" but its definitely not a jumper being almost 60lbs lol, still has great handling though!

Do these e-bikes come with an assortment of seats to choose from when ordering? Is that why they don't get a mention in the reviews?
@evan1kx12510 ай бұрын
Each ride one up model has its own seat..not options to choose from. No frame sizes to choose from either, this frame is around a medium size in the mtb world. Fits me good at 5-10, i think if your over 6ft it would feel small but still manageable

The reason this bike is a big deal is a similarity specced ebike from big name manufacturers cost at least $6,000 while a similarly specced non ebike with integrated bars cost $4,000. This is going to be a lectric moment for the road cycling industry.

The small battery is a bummer and deal killer. They should at least offer an optional 800 wh battery. Once the included battery degrades a bit, the range will become unusable for many.

Love everything about it... except the battery size and yea thru axles on the front are kind of important. I live in a higher crime area and a quick release front wheel means it will be stolen if also not locked up by some kid or opportunistic thief. They really should let people add the roadsters dual battery setup to this.. also wierd that they keep at 36v when the rest of the industry is moving to higher voltages. Mostly 48 and 52 these days.

Brose is great... love it, too bad they only address the European market and not the U.S. why don't they do anything to address the American Market, offer 500 or 750 watt. Til they do, the American market will keep them out!

@robertkribs9513 Жыл бұрын
I pay more attention to the nM torque than the motor size. It is likely that the actual wattage is more than the nominal and that this bike will climb any hill you need it to. For example I have test ridden a Gazelle bike with 85 nM of torque and it's hill climbing is impressive yet it is equipped with a nominal 250 watt motor.
@joeows6537 Жыл бұрын
@@robertkribs9513 you identified the problem right there! Americans live by the ethos, bigger is better. Americans want the ability to fuss with the controllers, they love to overvolt, run 5000 watts and so on and so forth. Brose is not the type of E-bike company that allows much hot rodding of parts, sure you can tweak it some... but the Bafang allows for infinite dimensions. Brose is a BMW and Bafang is a Land Rover. Americans love the Rovers!
